...If you want a cheep but cheerful hotel for a great weekend in a fabulous place then TulipInnAmsterdam West is for you.
The TulipInnAmsterdam West is a 3 star hotel situated in the western area of Amsterdam (3 stars indicates that the hotel has a quality rating). There are 162 rooms, which are reasonably priced and during my stay there, the room was clean and had maid service every day.
I stayed at the TulipInnAmsterdam West in December 2005 with 3 friends and we booked 2 twin rooms. The trip was extremely good value and was booked through Expedia at a price of £116 each including flights and 2 nights (3 days) stay at the hotel.
The hotel states that it's facilities include; airport transportation (at extra cost), breakfast room (at extra cost), Wireless Internet access, Free Parking, Conference Rooms, a Restaurant and a Bar...

Advantages: Quite far from the Centre Disadvantages: None that I know of
...I found this hotel to be an oasis of calm and assured service during a slightly stressful trip due to travel difficulties with KLM.
Travel from airport: The hotel is approximately midway from airport to city centre. You are recommended to travel by train from the airport, alight at Lellylaan and take the no. 17 tram to Hoekenes, which I found to be just under a 10 minute walk from the hotel; but on further investigation it appeared there was a bus from the airport that dropped off around the corner from the tram stop, probably an extra 10 minutes walk.
If you are on a tight budget, you can get a 24 or 48 hour pass which covers buses and trams but not trains. So if you dont mind a slightly longer hike and want to save money and time, get that bus (No. is on maps of the public transport system).
I took the bus to Lellylaan (no. 145...

Advantages: In easy reach of town centre, staff very friendly & helpful, Clean Disadvantages: Surrounding area a bit industrial
...I chose to take my boyfriend to Amsterdam for his 21st birthday but all the hotels in the City Centre that were in my price range had awful reviews, then i came across the Golden Tulip in Zanndam.
Although it is not in the city centre it is so easy to get there from this lovely hotel it's worth the extra journey to stay in a much nicer hotel. The train station is right next to the hotel (although there is no noise) and it is only 2-3 Euros return. We used to go out in the morning, come back late afternoon and then head back out in the evening and never found it a problem catching the train. It was also very easy to catch the train from the airport to the hotel.
The staff at the hotel are lovely and the room very clean and in a very nice condition. Because we saved so much money not staying in the city centre we were able to stay...
