I booked this holiday earlier this year, having first read the reviews. I travelled with my inlaws who are both in their 70's and have been on many All Inclusive Cruises, my husband and my four year old daughter who has never been abroad.
I went with an open mind as most complaints seemed to be about sheets not getting changed daily, I have to ask, how often do people do that at home!!
We arrived at silly o clock in the morning and were met at Reception by a very pleasant gentleman who made a fuss of our daughter and showed us to our rooms. We didnt realise until we read the literature we had been given the next morning that if we had asked we would have been given some sandwiches. To be honest all we needed at that point was a bed, and very comfortable it was too!
The apartment was clean but if you wish to have a kettle, microwave or air con then these need to be hired from Reception. The fridge was full sized and there was crockery available. There are no drawers in the bedrooms, but there are two large cupboards with shelves and a hanging rail and several coat hangers.
It seems like all the patios overlook one of the two pools, and the bedroom has a very small balcony as well.
I think in our week we saw the maid three or four times. Whilst the sheets or towels were not changed, I hadnt expected them to be and they didnt need changing either!
There was a choice of food at each meal, and even with a fussy eater like myself I never had a problem filling my plate (so much so that my shorts were a little tight by the end of the week!) There was Pork, Beef, Chicken and Fish at every dinner and evening meal, often in various formats. The salad selection was excellent, and there was always a vegetable selection as well. The food was replenished as soon as trays looked low and was always hot. Soup was also available. Dessert was ice cream every meal though there were three to choose from, and these could change during the course of the meal as tubs were replenished, Strawberry, Vanilla, Chocolate, Peach, Banana, Lemon, Toffee, Pistachio and there might have been a coffee one as well! Everyone in the party agreed how nice this was. There was always a selection of fruit available from Melon and Kiwi Fruit to bananas, apples and oranges. The service in the dining room was second to none, a trolley went round and round throughout the meal times clearing plates and cutlery very quickly.
There only seemed to be a handful of staff who worked both the bar and the dining room, and they were all extremely friendly and efficient.
Twice a week a British lady Helen comes to do manicures and Nail Art for a very reasonable 15 to 20 Euros depending on what you want done. Every other day a Suncare specialist is there to advise on suncream and aftersun (although they are selling they will give free advice) and there is also a Scuba lesson available for 10 Euros in the main pool.
The supermarket has everything you need and is not much more expensive than the supermarkets away from the Hotel.
Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a market just down the road from the Hotel within walking distance. Shop around as prices vary per stall. This is more a tourist market and prices are reflective of this. If you like the leather bags one word of advice, dont accept the first price, in fact if you see one you like ask how much, say no and walk off, the price drops a lot!!
Holiday World is about 10 mins walk and has a variety of fairground rides but doesnt really open till about 7pm. However, there is ten pin bowling there all day and a selection of kids rides for just a Euro. Good value for money.
The entertainer was ill half way through our holiday so there was no kids club or evening entertainment. The first couple of days while he was there this consisted of a quiz or bingo at 9.30 at night.
The atmosphere at the hotel is calm and peaceful, though there is music on all day by the main pool which we really liked. I believe this was a very quiet time for the hotel. We kept one room and paid for the additional all inclusive on our last day for the other room. This was excellent value for money as our coach didnt come till 1.45 in the morning.
For about 3 euros in a taxi you can go to the beach in Maspalomas or the busier resort of Playa Ingles.
I would go back there, and even the in laws enjoyed it. Make sure you take a decent factor sun cream as many people hadnt and got burnt.
Ignore the moaning minnies - we paid for 3 star, and we got 3 star. In fact we got excellent value for money. No one was ill, and no one had a bad time.
Advantages: Great resort, accomodation, entertainment, and food was not repetitive. Disadvantages: Poor security - when we went anyway - perhaps it has been improved.
...when we stayed here, at Turbo Club appartments in Masplomas, Gran Canria.
However, I feel I should, get into the open what happened on our vacation. One of our rooms were broken into. And it was not just one of our rooms that got broken into. There were several other people across the resort also being broken into. The fact this could happen is obviuosly becuase of the lack of camera's and security on site.
You see the resort itself is good. For ... ...to them, there were two appartments underneath aswell (on ground level). Three of us at went away for a walk to a fairly local shopping centre, while one of us stayed and had a snooze. My sisters, stayed in the room on the right at the top of our stairs whereas my Aunt and I stayed on the left. While myself and my sisters had gone for the walk, and my Auntie slept, my sisters room was broken into. At the top of the stairs there was a small platfrom, ...
