Fethiye Turkey a holiday destination for those that like to relax

Advantages: The weather and friendly reception you will get in every shop you go to.
Disadvantages: The weather some times its to hot..pheeeeew

First of all let me say I have lived here 5 years and have first hand knowledge regarding the area. Fethiye on the southern coast line of Turkey is a beautiful town that still has many links to its past. This however is not a place for those looking for the party nightlife and clubs, although there are a couple of clubs there they are not, in my opinion, Ibiza. There is plenty of sea though so if swimming, yachting, diving, fishing, taking a boat ...
...its tourquoise clear water is your 'cup of tea' you will not find a better area. There is every chance you will see Turtles swimming close to the waters edge in Fethiye, I have seen them myself they are lovely. Shopping is not to bad either with many brand name companies starting to set up here and there is always the old area called 'The Pasportur' filled with little ancient shops and cafe's, from original turkish rugs to turkish delight to gold ...

Icmeler (Turkey)

Advantages: weather / location / people
Disadvantages: transfer time

...and my wife went to Icmeler a couple years ago as we live in the south west we got a flight from our local airport Exeter the flight times were going out to Dalaman airport was 7pm and we didn't arrive until 2am in the morning which didn't bother us to much but for families with children it was not the best flight times .On top of the arrival time we were then confronted with a 90 minute transfer to the resort but as it is the last resort on the ...
...have to deliver customers to marmaris first .By the time we arrived in the apartment it was about 4am . We stayed at Pinewood Apartments which is a small complex of 42 aprtments situated towards the back of the resort so is very quiet it has beautiful surroundings and nestled into the mountainside and has lovely views .It is a short walk to the village centre but a bit further to the beachfront but to be honest the beach is mostly shingle and we ...

Postcard perfection

Advantages: Breathtakingly beautiful, lovley locals and good priced drinks.
Disadvantages: none

We visited Sarigerme in Turkey October 2008 and a stop off in Oludeniz was included in an excursion to Fethyia. When we arrived in the town it was clear to see that it was a thriving tourist town, I didn't see many residential areas although we didn't stay long so if we had explored a bit more we may have stumbled accross some local areas. We spent most of our short time there down by the lagoon. I must say that out of everywhere I have been in the ...
...the postcards for it. It was breathtakingly beautiful. We hired a family pedalo boat for £5 and this was for two hours although I think about 30-45 mins is ample. It was great to be able to explore the lagoon and for October it was gloriously sunny. There are several private beaches along the lagoon and each one must have different policies and prices etc. The one we went to was fantastic I think it was called palace beach it was £1 to hire a sunbed ...

A holiday in Hisaronu

Advantages: Everything else!
Disadvantages: Food in supermarkets VERY expensive and limited

A holiday to Hisaronu in July 2007 was the best holiday I have ever had! We were staying in a villa situated 5 minutes walk away from the town centre, and we were amazed at what a fantastic town we were staying in! There are hundereds of restuarants all offering competetive prices for food and drink, bars and clubs, shops and tour operator offices, all within the town centre - and what an atmosphere there was. Busy, but not too loud and bustling, ...
...of Olu Deniz was lovely, and the lagoon was even better, with the pedalo hire being the best part of our visit there. I can definately recommend Hisaronu to everyone, as there really is something to suit all ages, and all tastes, and the weather is very good too! ...

Calis Beach resort

Advantages: Small town, close to other resorts
Disadvantages: getting big

...wife and I stayed at Calis Beach in may 2008. Th ehotel was away from the sea front. This made it nice and quiet on a night. Cails itself is a small village. It is all the villas that are getting built around it that makes it a big place. You can walk from the west end of the sea front to the east end in half hour slow walk. The main street running away from the front only takes a few minutes. This street is made up of bars and shops. There is a ...
...up this last couple years, Calis is still fairly cheap. Although Fethiye is cheaper. There are a lot of places to visit from Calis Beach, trips you can book from a stall to ones you book with your rep. Overall, like most Turkish resorts, you will find lots to do and friendly people. On the other hand you will find the odd person that will try to rip you off. So as with all places you visit (including the UK) take precautions with your money. Use ...
