The rides at Thorpe Park are very good. They offer a great mix of adrenaline and variety (I particularly like detonator - where's you're basically dropped from a height of 50 m or so). There are several rollercoasters, featuring many loop the loops and barrel rolls etc, as well as lots of other rides just designed to scare the crap out of you!
Apart from the rides, Thorpe Park doesn't offer much. It's got a few unhealthy 'restaurants', such a Pizza Hut, Burger King etc, and I would particularly recommend the all-you-can-eat Pizza Hut buffet, which costs around £7 per person and gives you unlimited food and drink.
There are several downsides to Thorpe Park, and the main is the queues. It's very crowded pretty much any day (even during term time), and you generally have to wait several hours for the more popular rides. In order to get past this, I would recommend purchasing a fast track ticket.
The fast track tickets add between around £15-35 to the ticket price of £40 or so. It's not a cheap day out this! However, the fast track tickets mean that there are only queues of about 10 minutes for the most popular rides - easily worth it in my opinion.
Thorpe Park also seems to attract a specific type of person, who often likes dressing up in Adidas tracksuits and calling each other 'blad' (yes, I'm talking about the infamous chav). It really does get quite annoying, as it seems to be chav heaven.
Overall, Thorpe Park is a decent day out, but regular trips there would soon get tiring. However, despite this you can be sure that any kids you have will love it!
