Things to See and Do in Tynemouth

Advantages: A fabulous beach, a quaint town, great restaurants, lots to do, near to the city
Disadvantages: None

Tynemouth is a lovely town and a highly ...
...takeaway sandwiches. Being the seaside Tynemouth is also an ideal place for fish and chips. There’s a take away joint on the high street but if you can get down to the nearby North Shields Fish Quays (just a few minutes drive) the best fish and chips are to be had from here.

There are also a number of up market places for dinner. Sidney’s selection of interesting modern cuisine isn’t cheap, but it has an excellent reputation. I’ve ... more

Sea Life.

Advantages: Educational
Disadvantages: Expensive, 14+ charged as adults etc

There are four Blue Reef Aquariums located in the UK: ~ Newquay ~ Porstmouth ~ Hastings ~ Tynemouth The latter one is approx 10 minutes drive from where I live. Formerly known as the Sea Life Centre, I've visited a few times on very wet days to amuse the nieces and nephews. - Admission Prices - This isn't cheap! Adult - £7.75 Child (aged 3-14) - £5.75 Senior & Students - £6.75 Family of 4 - £24 Family of 5 - £27.50 There's also an option of becoming an annual member, which I really should contemplate as since it's so nearby, I would probably save quite a bit and use it more often: Adult - £22 Child (age 3 - 14) - £18 Senior & Students - £20 Family of 4 - £65 Additional benefits include: Free Admission for a full year to all Blue Reef Aquariums. £1 off the full admission price ...

Remember Your Childhood at this Museum

Advantages: Lovely toys, remember childhood, cheap entry
Disadvantages: None

I first visited Childhood Memories Toy Museum, Tynemouth when I was child. I went with my parents and we all really enjoyed it. I wanted somewhere to drive to during my time off so my friend and I decided to go here. I can?t remember anything from my first visit except what my parents have told me so it was almost like visiting here for the first time (though once I entered the museum there was an air of familiarity) Before visiting the museum I looked at their website online and I found out that it is the only Toy Museum in the North East with over 7000 toys on display dating back from 1890. I can?t say I remember seeing any toys this old (I?m not saying there wasn?t) but I do remember looking at annuals dating back from the early 1900?s. I found it really interesting that the annuals were so old (even older than my 83 year old ...

Relive Your Childhood Memories

Advantages: An eclectic collection, friendly knowledgable staff
Disadvantages: No demonstrations during our visit, not always open

Tynemouth Museum of Childhood Memories a small family run toy museum has been going now for about 15 years to my knowledge. It used to be based in nearby Whitley Bay many years ago in quite a small unit which it has long since outgrown, but for many years it has been at Tynemouth, North Tyneside, and it is housed among a row of small shops and restaurant directly above Tynemouth long sands beach. *How to Get There* We walked as we live locally but for the benefit of those not so near I'll briefly detail the accessibility. Situated on Grand Parade, Tynemouth: By Metro - Tynemouth metro station is roughly 10 mins walk away, follow signs to the sea front and boating lake park down Percy Park Rd and turn left. By Bus - There are several bus services to Tynemouth, including the 306 from Newcastle on a 15 minute service. By Car ...
