Marooned in Typhoon Lagoon

Advantages: Fun, lots to do
Disadvantages: A bit pricey

...my trip to Orlando was Typhoon Lagoon. I had last been there in about 1992 so was interested to see it again. Typhoon Lagoon is part of the Disney family and was opened in 1989. The idea behind the park is that it was created as the result of a huge storm which caused the rapids to form and the boats to be blown there from a nearby fishing village. As with everything Disney, this is another land of make believe!

LOCATION:

...A single day in Typhoon Lagoon costs $40 for anyone over 10 and $32 for anyone 3-9 years old. You can combine your Typhoon Lagoon tickets with other tickets for parks in the Disney World complex and if you are staying for a long time in Disney then this definitely cuts the cost down. We were only spending two days, however, and we already had one ticket from a previous trip, so we just paid when we got to the park.

...Blizzard beach and my favourite Typhoon Lagoon. We visited typhoon lagoon on our last visit to the USA, when we purchased a park hopper ticket this was one of the attractions listed, so as it was paid for we decided to go as it was a very hot day and a water park would be the best way to keep cool. ...the Disney's legend of a typhoon that ruined a beautiful tropical paradise. So the park has ships, surf boards and fishing equipment ruined placed as features all around the park and the water rides are based on the actual typhoon. The center of the park has a fishing boat (Miss Tilly) on top of a mountain (mount mayday), and every 30minutes this mountain erupts with a 50 foot gush of water, this is the center attraction and everything else surrounds ...

Making a Splash

Advantages: Good selection of things to do.
Disadvantages: None

...on a Disney Property. Typhoon Lagoon is probably my favourite of the two Disney parks. The park is built with the theme that a huge storm happened which impaled a fishing boat on top of a mountain and the resulting tides and rapids have continued. The setting is like a tropical island. There are lots of palm trees set around sandy beaches with tropical music drifting around. Arriving as the park opens gives you a good choice of sun beds. The beds ...
...bit tricky getting between them. Towels can be rented cheaply and it is a good option as it saves you having to launder all the sand out when you get back home. Large and small lockers are available to rent which are quite a good idea as you don’t want to leave money or expensive cameras on your sun beds whilst enjoying the attractions. Waterproof boxes that can be worn around the neck can be bought in the shop and are useful for keys etc., we bought ...

Typhoon Lagoon - Surfs Up!!!

Disadvantages: Wow thats alot of sun

Introduction ************ Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon has been open since 1988. It has been regarded as the number 1 theme parks for the last few years running and has continued to do so. Playing the Part ****************** All of Disney’s theme parks always have a theme which is a story to how the park came to be or something to bring children’s imaginations to life. Typhoon Lagoon follows the story that there is a massive storm that takes place ...
...new location where it creates Typhoon Lagoon. Attractions ************* Castaway Creek – The Castaway Creek covers the entire park making a very large circle that takes 20 minutes for a person to get around under the speed of the current. The circuit consists of five different landing that people can get on and off which are all name after fish (keeping to the theme). A person sits in a rubber ring or tube which comes in a single adult size, a ...

Typhoon Lagoon Review

Advantages: A nice variety of activities, jolly atmosphere, perfect for families, good transport (from disney resort hotels in particular), accomadates all ages!
Disadvantages: Must mind your feet in the surf pool on the rough flooring, fast food, quite expensive but average for the area, queue times

Typhoon Lagoon, the newest and largest of the water parks in Disney, is a great theme park for a family day out. Me and my family went their last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Typhoon Lagoon has a good, well thoughtout layout and it is extreamley easy to find what your looking for. The park is set around the surf pool, which I believe has a set of waves every 90 seconds and is as big as 2 football fields. If you fancy it, you can now also surf ...
...charge when the park is closed. The first main attraction when you walk through the gates is the "Castaway Creek" lazy-river style ride which runs around the perimeter of the surf pool. It took us just under an hour to do and took us through some wonderful scenery including things like caves and rivers. You basically just relax in a rubber dinghy, going round however many times you want. Just past this, is a man-made beach with white sand perfect ...

Disney Magic

Disadvantages: young children will enjoy disney hotels

Studios) and the two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach) and the hotels offer additional buses at peak times to Sea World and Universal Studios and the other big attractions throughout Florida. All the hotels in Lake Buena Vista have links with the parks so you can get tickets at special prices. The disney parks offer extra hours to the disney hotels and guests at Lake Buena Vista can take advantage of these too, this is especially important in peak season as ride queues can get very long. Lots of the hotels in Lake Buena Vista have disney themed attractions within them such as merchantise stores and meal times with the disney characters. EXTRA INFORMATION There are many advanatages to being in Lake Buena Vista but one of the main draws for many people is the fact that the hotels are generally slightly less pricey than ...

Makin' Waves

Disadvantages: Very overpriced

of its kind in the UK that it was not particularly huge. There are two main pools, one is shallow with loads of kids activities and the typhoon lagoon for stronger swimmers is deeper and has waves which are switched on every half an hour. Despite the relatively small size the park has 18 slides dotted around the sides of the pools, play areas for younger children, a waterfall, a rolling river and a wave pool offering fun for all the family. The most impressive of the slides is the Master Blaster, the worlds longest indoor rollercoaster which also holds the title of being the worlds first uphill rollercoaster. Riders are seated in small inflatables while the water injection technology propels riders along the 250m long slide which snakes outside the building. The slide is not particularly fast so is suitable for children from the age of 8 ...

Review of Sandcastle Water Park, Blackpool

Winter Land Fun

Advantages: Attractions
Disadvantages: -

?t realise how steep it is until you go over the brow of the slide and fall almost vertically down to the bottom. As you go down you speed up to near 60 mph. I found this an amazing ride. A lot of my friends wouldn?t do this as they thought it was too steep. As I got half way down I found a lot of water was being pushed into my face which was kind of making me feel as if I was choking on water and took away my ability to see what was ahead of me but none the less I thought it was amazing. RATING 10 OUT OF 10 for this one. I?ve never come across a ride like it. Cross Country Creek ? Very similar to the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon however I found this creek not to be as good. There was still props etc as I floated around but I found it too shallow and not too entertaining however it was good to just get into a tube and chill out in the sun ...
