UCI has recently opened a new multiplex 'thefilmworks' near the Millennium Dome on the Greenwich Peninsula. It is the first of its size and design in Europe and has cost £9 millions to build. The cylindrical multiplex has 14 screens and 2590 seats on four floors; currently is showing 21 films with late shows starting at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
I went to thefilmworks to see 'Bridget Jones's Diary' on a Sunday. There were 14 shows on that ... ...As the latest released film, it was showed on one of the four biggest screens in the cinema (screen 9, 10, 11 and 12). The slightly curved screen is huge and wide, almost twice the size of a normal screen of a small cinema. The seating is stadium style so everyone has a clear view of the screen. The seats are quite comfortable with armrests that can be raised if you want to cuddle your partner sitting next to you! And the Dolby Digital Surround Sound ...

...Greenwich. Filmworks is a new UCI multiplex development – Greenwich was the first one to be opened but there are now three more, in Manchester, High Wycombe and Maidenhead. (Surely Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham would be more appropriate?…no offence intended to the good folk of High Wycombe and Maidenhead!)
GETTING THERE
Greenwich Filmworks is situated in one of those out-of-town retail parks on the bleak Greenwich Peninsula – ... ...of parking space. It is on the A2052 (Bugsbys Way), and close to the A206 which goes to Woolwich and Plumstead, and the A102 (M), better known as the Blackwall Tunnel approach road.
If you are on the Tube, North Greenwich station (Jubilee Line) is about 15-20 minutes walk away, but it is not very well signposted so you can instead catch a bus from the station if you don’t fancy the walk. I certainly wouldn’t recommend walking (especially ...
