Disadvantages: Not the most comfortable coach seats

...I now fly from the US to the UK alot, okay not alot compared to the normal business man but 2 or 3 times a year I have finally decided to stick to one airline and get those flying miles working in my benefit. ...Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to London Gatwick. I had purchased the ticket from a travel agent so I did not get to interact with the Airline employees until checking in for my flight. Disadvantages: Different airline domestically

I have flown on US Airways once, and thoroughly enjoyed the transatlantic portion.I was less impressed with my domestic connecting flight. I chose them because it was a last minute trip, and they offered the best deal. I was flying to San Francisco, and I went from Manchester, as it's more convenient to me than their other British destination, Gatwick. The price was high for the last-minute trip in July, but lower than any others I could find, but ...

This was usueful in our case, as we were travelling on a family emergency involving my wife's mother, who lives in California, and my wife couldn't be sure how long she'd need to stay. I have flown US Airways on 4 trans-atlantic return journeys this year so I believe I am well placed to give you guys an overview. Departure: Taking off from Gatwick the check in staff and security are helpful and courteous. They will also provide you with your Visa waiver forms prior to take off so you do not have to fill one out on arrival at US immigration. Envoy and First Class Lounge: The Envoy and First Class lounges are superb offering snacks, ...
...this is not saying that US Airways coach class is up to scratch it is a very cheap, efficient and friendly service. Upon entry to the US you will normally land in either Charlotte or Philidelphia before taking your connecting flight as these airports are US Airways bases. ...Delta Having been transferred to Delta by US Airways for our return flight to the UK from Tampa to Atlanta, Atlanta to Paris and Paris to Manchester with Air France. This has enabled me to write a second opinion on a US airline company. Having already queued for half an hour at the US Airways Check-in we joined the check-in of Delta. However fearing that we might miss the flight my wife went to the first class check-in only to be told that we were not book on the flight. Hence we returned to the US Airways check-in to be told we had been booked on the Delta flight. Thus we returned to the Delta check-in with a US Airways member of staff who got use on the flight to Atlanta. We then had to go though the most painstaking of security checks that we have ever gone though i.e. a full scan with a hand held body scanner and full body... Read review

...Last year i was jetting off to New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico for two weeks of winter sun. I flew US Airways and had to change planes in Philadelphia. Our plane was delayed for an hour at Gatwick so this left us with 2 hours to catch our connecting flight to New Orleans. Easy? NO!!! We stepped off the plane into a very nice modern arrivals terminal, things seemed to be going ok. I was very wrong. When we reached immigration there were 2 desks open! There were about 500 people from all over the world who wanted to clear customs at the same time. Disaster! We had to wait for 3 hours to clear customs and of course we missed our connecting flight. There were no exceptions made for people waiting to board another plane and the staff were rude a laughed at us. Finally we reached the desk and a very angry woman who clearly didn't want... ...Let me start by saying that I am not a particularly frequent flyer. I don't do many business miles, and have a couple of holidays a year. However, I booked a holiday a couple of years ago with United Vacations. The reservations agent advised that I should join Mileage Plus. Yeah whatever, but did it anyway. Went to the United Airlines website and had a better look at it. United Airlines is part of the Star Alliance, the worlds leading airline alliance. The Mileage Plus scheme is obviously centred around United Airlines, but you can "earn and burn" your miles on any of the Star Alliance carriers: bmi british midland, SAS, Lufthansa, VARIG, Air Canada, Austrian Airlines, Mexicana, ANA All Nippon, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Asiana, and from this year, Spanair, LOT Polish Airlines and US Airways.
