If you want a quick summery - good for a top-over on route to somewhere else. If you're in Bergamo for a few days, go for somewhere more up-market.

Scenario
=======
We were off to Lake Como, flying from Liverpool on Ryanair to Bergamo Orio airport. The flight got in at about 9.30pm and we needed somewhere for myself, the wife and the evil 3 year-old to stay within a cheap taxi-ride to the airport. We routed around the internet and came up with this place - close and cheap. We were not looking for a 5 star mansion, just somewhere to rest before the 2 hour (we got lost) drive to the beautiful Italian Alps.

Arrival
=====
The taxi fare from the airport took about 10 minutes and the driver nearly killed us. Id heard about italian driving but I really didnt expect it to be on a par with Russian Roulette. It cost about 12 euros which I didnt think was too bad but I dont trust taxi drivers as soon as they know you dont know your way around and it was dark so god knows if it was a fair price or not
We got there quite late - about 10.30 and it was no problem. Greeted at the desk by a polite English-speaking receptionaist who booked us in, gave us the key and sent us in the right direction. The decor instantly reminded us of a business-orientated hotel. Clean and functional. In pretty-good nick but not totally fantastic.

Room
=====
The room was really big actually with a huge window looking out at the residential area behind the hotel. It was dark so we had to wait for the morning to see anything and when I did I could just spot the mountains behind the rows of houses.
We needed a triple-room which had a single and a double bed. The bedding was very clean but boring and their was the usual one pillow each, but I found some more in the large cupboard which also housed the safe and a few other bits and bobs such as travel iron etc.
The room ahd a colour TV with satellite incl BBC news 24 but not a lot else for English speakers. i didn't think it would, it was definatly aimed at Italian Business users.
The bathroom was great. No bath but a huge posh shower with a radio and sauna in it. It had a little seat in it as well which the spawn of Satan enjoyed sitting on.
The hotel was quiet at night and we were not disturbed.
We were very pleased.

Room Service
===========
We managed to order a pizza and some coffee just before it closed for hot food. It came about 15mins later and I wish it hadn't. The pizza was pretty much a frozen job and didn't give a good impression of the famous italian cuisine. It was overdone and Frisbee-like. At 9euros though I suppose it want too expensive!The coffee was yummy - our first proper Italian coffee since arriving!

The bar
======
The bar was quiet and rather boring and I remember the chairs being a bit dilapidated. 4 euros for a double Jamesons wasn't too expensive compared to the UK. I noticed the bar, and the whole hotel was smoke-free which might please some. You might need to check that though.

The environs
==========
Don't bother going for a stroll in the local area before bed. I dont think youll get mugged but it is very industrial. There is nothing open, nothing to see, nowhere to eat. Don't bother.

Breakfast
========
If the room service left a lot to be desired then thankfully the breakfast made up for it. It was smashing. A well stocked buffet affair with tons and tons and tons of stuff. Brioche, toast, cooked ham, croissant, eggs, cereal, fruit - fresh and tinned, juices, yoghurt's, preserves, cheeses. A regular mountain and very good value, included in our B&B tariff. There was endless coffee or tea and the service was exceptional I thought with stuff continuously cleared so I could stuff my face a bit more. Well done! Oh and the room was quite nice too!

Check-out
========
We got out with the minimum of fuss. The staff booked us a taxi to the airport and we paid our bill. Including the room service it cost 122 euros or about £80 which I thought was really really good value for what we got. If we had been on a longer stay or had paid over £110 I would have thought it was a rip-off but at that price I was perfectly happy.

So, we came up trumps finding this place because it suited our purposes of price and we didn't care in advance about whether it would be posh or not. We just needed a place to sleep and eat for 12 hours before leaving to pick up a hire car. And it was a good choice!

Yes sounded an OK place for your need for that night. I hear if staying in Bergamo for more than a night then the Old Upper Town is best. Regards Steve
