...I lived in Milan for two years when i was age 7 and 8, we had to move out there because of my dads job. When we first moved there we had to stay in a kind of hotel/bording house called the "Prince Pesse Catilda" translated into english as the "Building of Shit" my bed was a broken bit of drifwood that pulled/collapsed off the wall and the bathroom was more like a sunked ship.
Anyway after living/surviving there for six weeks we moved into a luxery appartment allong Vialle Montello right next to Parko Sempioni. Parko Sempioni was an oasis in Milan, full of happy children and ducks!(although after a resent visit last year where i almost got mugged i have now changed my mind!!) Advantages: easy to use metro, great city Disadvantages: hectic
...i visited milan for a weekend in august last year and love the city. very crowded and busy place but a worthwhile experience. beautiful people walking around everywhere and great if hot and sunny. duomo (catherdral) is breathtaking and one can get great photos of this "asian-esque" looking building.

friendly city, but many a pick-pocket and beggars are rife, so beware! i'm a single 18yr old boy(was 17 when i went) and felt safe, but perhaps...

Advantages: Shopping! Disadvantages: Italian men on a major "charm" offensive & you will come back broke
...to travel. Other airlines to try are of course British Airways and Air Italia. Also if you are planning to take a bus or a taxi from the airport to your hotel it is perhaps best to clarify the exact location with the tourist office because Mulitmap had us right over the other side of town!
The centre of Milan is not particularly spread out so we mostly walked from place to place. However there is a fast and cheap tube service (which bizarrely has music playing!) and trams in some areas.
Accommodation
Accommodation in Milan can be as expensive or cheap as you wish. We stayed quite close to the station in a lovely B&B for only around £25 each per night. We booked this hotel over the Internet – www.italiantourism.org or www.hotels-in-italy.com have a wide range of hotels to suite every budget. You print out a confirmation page and call / email...
