Advantages: Very comfortable beds Disadvantages: Location, Poor room service
...etc. I wished I had booked the Una Palace in Via Etnea, which looked brilliant. It is in the main shopping street with loads of cafes, bars, shops etc. and has a roof terrace which would give brilliant views of the volcano. I thought about moving hotels, but couldn't afford to pay again.
My hotel room was very comfortable and clean with a modern bathroom with the usual toiletries. A reasonable buffet breakfast is included in the price. Room service seemed very restricted – although the bar did toasted sandwiches.
If you are on a tight budget, advance internet booking on Best Western's website gives good value for money for the HotelMediterraneo. However, I don’t think this hotel would suit everyone. It certainly wouldn't impress the girlfriend and I wouldn’t want my mother walking round there on her own at night. The streets were...

Advantages: Beautiful views, beautiful Hotel. Disadvantages: 15 mins distance from center of Sorrento
...This Hotel is great! I stayed here a couple of years ago. The Hotel is in Sant'Agnello which is about 15 mins walk from Sorrento (Piazza Tasso) and there is a local bus service if you don't feel like walking. The Hotel is very clean, and the staff are friendly and very organised. The pool is also very nice and the dining room is fabulous with a view of the Bay of Naples. Very near to the Hotel there is a small beach, some local shops and a couple of restaurants too. It is better to go into Sorrento for bars in the evening although there are a couple of small bars in Sant'Agnello on the main street which is called Corso Italia (about 5 mins walk from the Hotel) On the main street there is a more frequent bus service into Sorrento (buses every 20 mins). Good value for money....

Advantages: Clean, safe, elegant, friendly Disadvantages: None I can think of - perhaps lack of taxis
...speak pretty much no Italian worth mentioning, I soon worked out what 'prego' (you're welcome), 'grazie' (thank you) and 'scusi' (excuse me) meant, because you hear them ALL the time. People hold doors open for you, and ....get this!.....even stop dead in their tracks rather than walk infront of a person trying to capture a street scene with their camera!!! That says a lot for a city full of people who are supposedly all hussle-bussle and work orientated!!
If anyone is seriously thinking about going - I'd thoroughly recommend Ryanair airlines. Our return flights were about £25 each. And our 3* much-more-than-adequate hotel was also booked on the Ryanair 'Find me a hotel' site - with much much cheapness too.
I'm actually going back to Milan in May. (With my boyfriend this time - as I think my travel tales sold it to him!). It...
