Union square is a pedestrianised square which has artists and street entertainers. Surrounding the square there is Macys, levi store, the Disney store and saks (and other boutiques!) There are also a number of other shops a short walk off the roads off union square (Old Navy, Virgin, H&M).

This area is great if you like shopping. and it is easy to get to. The old cable cars run up one side of the square (along Powell), there is a bus stop in Geary street and the BART (underground train) stop is at the bottom of Powell street - about 5 minutes from the square. The BART is very cheap, the ticket from the airport to union square costing $5.15 single journey.

There are a number of places to eat in the area - alot are quitre gimmicky and for the tourist (with characters such as betty boo and Charlie chaplin dancing outside). As a result the prices are quite high. A short walk away from the square there are a number of diners - where the prices come down a bit ( for example a breakfast buritto (very large!) and cup of tea is about $10)

There are also a number of fast food outlets a short walk off the square - where you can pick up a large pizza slice for $2.95

The only down side is that there is a lot of homeless people in this area. Although the homeless people mostly sit quietly on street corners with a cup in hand, one or two will be more direct. This can be a little intimidating at first.

It is a great area to walk around though - even if you are only just window shopping!

Theres not really enough information here, you need far more information, maybe include transport links, a list of more of the shops available, the prices of coffee etc in local cafes, if you do update the review let me know and I'l rate for you. Good luck James
