3 Stars A New United Airline Review with images 26/09/2012

Advantages Advantages Economy Plus is comfortable, decent service on international flights

Disadvantages Disadvantages If switiching to a domestic flight in the US expect service to drop, no pre-boards for families

I flew with United Airlines transatlantic with my husband over 10 years ago. The experience was so bad we made a concerted effort to avoid flying with them again. I particularly remember surly and downright rude cabin crew, a battle to ensure at least one of us could be seated with our autistic daughter on all flights and a complete lack of concern from the cabin crew when my daughter woke up with a night terror on an overnight flight back to the UK. I generally fly British Airways these days but for flights to New York the easiest way for me to go has been from Glasgow to Newark on ... more

Advantages Advantages huge network of routes, part of the star alliance, some good pricing, self-service check-in

Disadvantages Disadvantages have to pay for drinks in economy, some planes not the newest, self-service check-in

Over the years, I have been on lots of trips across the Atlantic to visit the good old US of A, either on business or holiday. And I had a choice of plenty of airlines when booking. So far, I have tried British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines and United. Once I even ended up on Air India - but the less said about that the better, I was too young to know the difference, then. Of course, from that fateful day in September 2001 on, air travel changed forever and what used to be a pleasant trip for most of us has now become reason to think twice what airline we actually chose on long ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap flights offered to the US

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the most comfortable plane and felt the staff weren't as friendly as hoped!!

I recently flew from Heathrow to Mrytle Beach with my sister on this airline via Washington DC. It's the first time I have used this airline and wanted to share my experience of them with you. ~United Airline~ The reason why I choose this airline as opposed to any other one was the price. United Airlines is one of the cheapest and one of the largest airlines within the United States. The majority of their flights are from or to the USA and you can almost get them from any part of the world. They also have two sister companies,:- United Express and Ted which work alongside them. ~The Price~ It ... more

Advantages Advantages On time, decent happy staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages Perhaps not just meeting the bench marks set by BA

I have flown transatlantic with United twice now, once internally within the states, the majority of these trips have been in the premium economy class and once business. Our trips were from London Heathrow to San Francisco premium economy on the outbound journey and business class on our way home. My second trip was London Heathrow to Washington, transatlantic and Washington to Boston internally – all legs being premium economy. BOOKING Whilst checking out fares online and finding out about the airline, we actually booked our flights through the United telephone booking service. This ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of avaiable routes all over USA

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as friendly staff and general 'old fashioned' design interior of aircraft

I flew on United airways 4 times over the USA and from the UK in August 2004 and found it to be a very pleasant, relaxing flight each time. Cost Well everyone cares about cost! United are not a budget airline, although my family found them tp be the cheapest of all the carriers we could find in the USA last summer. As far as I am aware, the flights from the UK to New York cost under £500 each return, with additional internal flights within the USA free (a maximum of 2 free flights, from £80 after this). My family thought this was a bargain and so we chose to fly United. The Flights Well it has ... more
