Marriott hotels - could be better!

Advantages: Many hotels have lesuire facilties, food normally very good
Disadvantages: can be expensiveMarriott

...had of staying in a Marriott hotel was in Los Angles and I was most impressed the food was well above average and the staff could not have been more helpful the room we had was very large with two queen sized beds and decorted to a high standard but the best bit was a gorgeous swimming pool. We had such a great time at this hotel that when I returned back to England I wanted to stay at another Marriott and as our anniversary was coming up it seemed ...
...up for christmas at a Marriott hotel I studied the brochure and chose the Marriot in Portsmouth I was looking foward to it very much. When Christmas(2004) finally came around we were looking foward to our christmas break and as I had just given birth to my second child only two months before it was a much needed break. The hotel had promised lots for the children and as I have a older child as well it seemed ideal. On arrival the hotel looked very ...

Agatha Christie sort of hotel

Advantages: quietly luxurious but not pretentious
Disadvantages: None

...a few days away near the coast in England but want to stay somewhere just that little bit more grown up and luxurious then this could be the place for you. The Grand hotel in Eastbourne is an Agatha Christie type hotel. You draw up on the drive and there is someone there offering to take your bags. When you walk in, you walk into a wonderful high ceilinged cavernous public area where the seating is arranged around fireplaces, paintings adorn walls ...
...an enjoyable stay. On the left is a morning/lounge room where you can sit and have tea and cakes, help yourself to the complimentary fruit and newspapers or just watch the world go by. On the right is a ballroom style dining room. There are lifts up to the bedrooms which are of a good standard and have good proportions. There were complimentary bottles of mineral water alongside the tea/coffee making facilities and our bathroom was kitted out with ...

spa - without treatments?

Advantages: nice hotel in lovely village with very nice food and generally friendly staff
Disadvantages: lack of spa treatments available and shockingly rude Duty Manager

I booked a one-nght spa break for my sister and I for her 40th birthday for £200 (it was a 2-1 from lastminute.com). When we arrived we were told that there were no treatments available, including the one we'd paid for as part of our package. That could only be provided at 10.30am the next day - with a check out time of 11am. As we'd already made plans to be somewhere at 11.30 we couldn't take that up anyway. The spa Manager was a little off when ...
...the Duty Manager who was extremely rude when my sister complained. She was shouting and very aggressive, basically saying that because we'd booked through lastminute.com we were second class guests. At one point my sister had to ask her to stop pointing at her and she also told us to 'Call the authorities, call the police if you think you've got something to complain about'. She said that the owner wouldn't care too much about getting a letter of ...

Salisbury's own Fawlty Towers?

Advantages: Right in the centre of Salisbury
Disadvantages: Woefully disorganised and in need of a full refurbishment

With having a daughter living in the area we had received mixed opinions on the Mercure White Hart Hotel in Salisbury. Anyway, we decided one Sunday morning when in the area to go in and see what it was like. We had coffee and toasted teacakes in the Lounge area and we were pleased with the service we received so decided we would use this as our base for our holiday in early July. Unfortunately, our week at the Mercure White Hart did not reach ...
...I am writing on our observations of the week, 4 July to 11 July, when we stayed at the Mercure White Hart Hotel in Salisbury. Reception We arrived at the White Hart at approximately 4 pm on a Friday with our daughter. We were booked in for the whole week, while our daughter was booked in for three nights. We went to Reception to discover there was no one there. We stood chatting for some time when a member of staff arrived and called over the counter, ...

Review of Macdonald White Hart Hotel, Salisbury

Very relaxing and fun long-weekend

Advantages: Scenery, Food, Facilities, Attractions, Clean air, too many to list!
Disadvantages: None

...hotels within the resort. The Aviemore Inn, the Academy Hotel, the McDonald Highlands Hotel and the Four Seasons (Hilton). I had heard that the McDonald Highlands Hotel was the best one, but it was fully booked when we wanted to go so we chose the Four Seasons instead. I travelled with my child, aged 6 at the time. The main reception is at the McDonald Hotel, this is where you check in and out and find the big shop and a cafe. There is also a big ...
...are the Cairngorms. Aviemore is quite small, its surprisingly not very Scottish. Most of the workers we met in the hotel, cafes and shops were from other countries and most of the tourists were from abroad as well. It had the effect of making me feel I was actually abroad and not in my own country! But everyone is very friendly. Except when we lost a scarf, we turned back hoping to see it tied to a lamppost but someone had made off with it, in Glasgow ...
