Marginally More Comfortable Than Sleeping in the Actual Airport Advantages: Clean, Friendly staff Disadvantages: Uncomfortable camp bed, slow service ...decided to stay in the Radisson SAS hotel the night before. There were nine of us in total in three rooms including two children. -Arrival- Being the only one of us living in London I was the first to arrive. Getting to the hotel was really easy for me, I just took the Stansted express and then followed the signposts to the hotel. Whittlebury, somewhere to whittle a few luxurious hours away Advantages: Excellent value, great food, comfotatble rooms and pleasant helpful staff Disadvantages: We kept getting lost but that was prabably our uselessness! WHERE IS THIS? Whittlebury Hall, Whittlebury, Nr Towcester, Northamptonshire, NN12 8QH. This is a hotel, Management Training Centre, leisure centre and day spa as well as a golf course. It is just near Silverstone racetrack so I suspect it might get busy when there is a big race there so this might be a time to avoid. I booked through Lastminute.com but then I did phone the hotel directly after booking in order to find out more about the spa and ... ...I would thoroughly recommend Whittlebury Hall hotel and spa as I felt it was fantastic value for money. There are a number of packages on offer besides the one I bought on Lastminute.com and over the Christmas and New Year period they are offering stays including dinner and breakfast for £49 per person per night which at the time of year is amazing value. First class relaxing Hotel retreat Advantages: The best country Hotel in the UK Disadvantages: Cost but worth saving up for I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough if you wish to have a totally relaxing very high quality stay (without the children). The Hotel is situated just outside of the New Forest and you can take a walk from it to the coast. We stay for one night each year and it is totally relaxing. Normally we arrive around lunchtime and someone takes our bags to the room (tipping is not allowed), we go directly to the fantastic spa facilities where you can ... ...saunas and steam rooms and you get a fluffy white towel and slippers which you can virtually live in for the rest of your stay. It is one of those places where people are polite but dont want to intrude which makes it great for relaxing around the swimming pool or trying out one of the many spa facilities. My wife usually pays extra and has a massage/treatment, usually involving something to do with strawberries and champagne. Christmas at Cranage Advantages: Attractive hotel, good facilities, excellent party atmosphere Disadvantages: Expensive bar prices, rude waiting staff ...with his work colleagues at Cranage Hall which is in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. As this was some distance from home, we treated ourselves to a night away in the hotel without the kids, making a good night even better! Cranage Hall is part of the Principal Hayley group of conference venues and hotels but for us it was the setting of our Christmas 'do' and a well-deserved night away. This place should be more than 3 stars! Advantages: Beautiful location, friendly staff and clean, functional rooms Disadvantages: Too far away from my house! At the end of November - my Dad was married in Scotland. He booked the Tigh Na Mara hotel out for all the family, this included all the rooms they hotel has so I can helpfully rate the hotel as a whole. The hotel offers bed and breakfast accommodation. The hotel also has a bar/pub, and around the back is a restaurant. Both of these are open to the public. The picture which is displayed for the Tigh Na Mara isn't correct - I will attach the correct ... ...beach, which is unspoilt. Opposite The Tigh Na Mara hotel is a park, which consists of 2 adult swings, 2 baby swings, a slide and a see-saw. Also in the village is a Tea Room and a post office/mini-market. The rest is made up of quaint village houses, and the hotel, pub and restaurant of the Tigh Na Mara. Nearby Attractions Located nearby is the town of Stranraer, where ferries can be taken to Ireland.
