A mock medieval marvel
Advantages: Beautiful surroundings Disadvantages: value for money
Introduction:
From the outside, Bailiffscourt appears to be a numer of low medieval buildings, some thatched and some tiled. However, all is not as it seems - the hotel was actually built in 1927 by the late Sir Walter Guinness (Lord Moyne) as a family retreat using original stone, woodwork and gothic mullioned windows gathered from all over England (and all to stop the local council from building a housing estate near the family home!). The hotel ... ...very atmospheric!
Health Spa:
Bailiffscourt now has a Health Spa in the grounds of the hotel with indoor and outdoor pools, steam room, sauna, outdoor Californian-style hot tub and integrated indoor Jacuzzi (I haven't tried these facilities yet but will be making full use of them on my next visit!) The spa offers a number of treatments to pamper yourself although as I believe the spa is also open to the general public it is probably best to book ...

First class relaxing Hotel retreat
Advantages: The best country Hotel in the UK Disadvantages: Cost but worth saving up for
I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough if you wish to have a totally relaxing very high quality stay (without the children). The Hotel is situated just outside of the New Forest and you can take a walk from it to the coast. We stay for one night each year and it is totally relaxing. Normally we arrive around lunchtime and someone takes our bags to the room (tipping is not allowed), we go directly to the fantastic spa facilities where you can ... ...saunas and steam rooms and you get a fluffy white towel and slippers which you can virtually live in for the rest of your stay. It is one of those places where people are polite but dont want to intrude which makes it great for relaxing around the swimming pool or trying out one of the many spa facilities. My wife usually pays extra and has a massage/treatment, usually involving something to do with strawberries and champagne.
Our room (Bronze room). ...

Butlins Value!
Advantages: Lots to do Disadvantages: The Extras can add up ££
...Of all the holiday parks, Butlins does seem to get the best acts to perform. There are childrens clubs, activities and play areas as well.
+Facilities+
On the downside, by the time you've paid for all the extras like trampolines, side stalls, go carts, bungee trampolines and arcade machines it doesn't leave much for yourself! So if you can, give the kids a strict limit on the amount of extras they can have!!!
Most of the facilities are based in ... ...good as the funfair at Butlins in Skegness. However, the rides were free (apart from the go karts) and as I mentioned in my review of Butlins in Skegness, what more do you want included in the price.. Most holiday parks don't have any more free facilities than a swimming pool and evening entertainment, so having half a dozen free funfair rides is a bonus at any cost. The funfair did close at tea time, as did the play areas. The main childrens play ...

Marginally More Comfortable Than Sleeping in the Actual Airport
Advantages: Clean, Friendly staff Disadvantages: Uncomfortable camp bed, slow service
...decided to stay in the Radisson SAS hotel the night before. There were nine of us in total in three rooms including two children. -Arrival- Being the only one of us living in London I was the first to arrive. Getting to the hotel was really easy for me, I just took the Stansted express and then followed the signposts to the hotel. It is really well signposted and I actually found the walk there to be quite pleasant. There were rabbits all over the ... ...maintained. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to help us. I've stayed at a Radisson SAS before at a different airport and compared to that one the bedroom in this one was a real disappointment. Hidden treasure in industrial wasteland
Advantages: relaxing, sumptuous, exclusive, latest technology, great food, good staff Disadvantages: location, marred by car park, technology sometimes a little intimidating
Seaham is an incongruous location for what is billed as one of the most exclusive hotels and health spas in the North East of England, if not the country.
It's unfair to knock the town of Seaham itself, devastated by the closure of three coal pits, but to be honest, the approach and surroundings of Seaham Hall are pretty ugly, in an industrial way.
Those expecting the timeless beauty and surroundings of Tom's Companies other famous hotel, The Samling, ... ...health club part of the Seaham experience, while modern, is tastefully hidden away behind well-placed bunding. With the carpark behind you, physically and metaphorically, you can appreciate the historic building itself, complete with inventive and fascinating water fountain in front of the main entrance.
Inside you're greeted by a sumptuous hall and reception, warmly wood panelled and with the first examples of the impressive art and sculpture collection ...
