EXPRESS by HOLIDAY INN great for family value. Advantages: Good location but not in City centre. Disadvantages: None if booked for what it is for. We were to attend a Family Wedding, the reception to be held at the Marriott Hotel Peterborough. Needed a good value Hotel for the group and found this Hotel was just across the road from the Marriott. Booked thru BOOKING.COM and got three rooms. 1 Double, 1 Room for two adults and one child, 1 Room for two adults and two children. The Room prices were all the same £45 per night, with breakfast. Children sharing a room with two adults come free. ... ...wedding was at 12 o'clock so did not want to rush on the Sat morning. We wre due to arrive at 8 Fri Evening, I emailed this to the hotel and received a swift reply that this had been noted on our reservation. There is a link on the hotel web site for travel details, it is located just off the A1 next to the Peterborough Showground, so if struggling follow any sigh you see for the Show Ground, the Hotel is next to the entrance.. You'd be better off at a campsite! Advantages: Umm... Disadvantages: Just about everything, I think! Ah, the George. Local to me, last October I went in for Sunday lunch with a friend. I should have heard the warning bells ringing when I was served barely-cooked beef and cold cauliflower, but everyone makes mistakes - right? The waitress was not at all apologetic; she merely looked inconvenienced; however she did return with a fresh meal. Hurrah. The following evening, I was in town with my fiancé and we decided to pop in for a bite to eat anyway. ... ...serving from the lounge menu, at which point she held her hand up to us and said impatiently: 'I'll be back in a minute, yeah?!' So my fiancé stood and waited. And waited. She came back from what she was doing, walked straight past us several times, and completely ignored us for a further ten minutes as she chatted to a colleague. Plane Spotters Paradise! Advantages: fairly cheap, very close to airoprt Disadvantages: staff ...was cheap! Overall, the express by Holiday Inn at Luton airport is very good if you have a flight at Luton as you are so close, you can see planes all around the hotel but we were not disturbed at night by any noises. It's quite cheap, a double room for a night costing two of us nearly £25 which is not bad. My first choice hotel when visiting Stirling Advantages: Good value, clean and comfortable Disadvantages: None ...stayed at the Express by Holiday Inn Stirling, a few times, booking directly by visiting Hiexpress.co.uk ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HOW TO GET THERE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Springkerse business park, Stirling. It is easily accessed from the M80, leaving at J10, or from J9 off the M9. Follow the A91 to St Andrews and after six roundabouts you arrive at the hotel. If travelling by train, Stirling train station is approx 1.5miles ... ...staying in an Express by Holiday Inn hotel is that continental breakfast is included in the room price. This is self-service and can be eaten downstairs or taken back to your room on a tray if you wish. You can choose from a range of cereals, toast, croissants, pastries,muffins, fresh fruit, jams and marmalades and yoghurts. Fruit juice and tea/coffee is also provided. It beats sleeping in lay-bys Advantages: Handy for the motorway without being noisy Disadvantages: OK for an overnight stop but not really where you'd want to spend TOO long on a roundabout ...the points balance on my Holiday Inn loyalty card and booked us a room at the Holiday Inn Express near Taunton. Our HIE was at Junction 25 on the M5. It was a short drive from the wedding venue and my lovely husband volunteered to stay sober and drive us back at the end of the evening which turned out to be a good deal since there was an obscene amount of champagne on offer. The address seemed rather vague and I wasn't feeling confident that we'd ... ...something to eat. Like all Holiday Inn Express hotels, one of the ways they cut the costs is by not having a 'normal' breakfast service. It was a 'help yourself' affair and was a bit hit and miss in terms of the quality of some of the items though we had no complaints about the quality.
