To be honest we weren't expecting much from this hotel, we had booked a room following our xmas work's 'do' there last year (instead of worrying about getting a taxi...) We expected it to be a typical 'stop over' accommodation, but much to our delight we were met with a neat, clean tidy and quite lavish foyer. The staff were polite and very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. the food and drinks, although on the pricey side was of high quality. ...
...of the hotel, clean, tidy and in very good condition. we had an issue with the bathroom light (one of the bulbs had blown)and this was sorted immediately. There is also ample parking, and for those planning to stay longer, it is relatively close to a large supermarket and a short drive to town. We weren't traveling with a child, so I couldn't advise how child friendly they are, but based on how WE were treated I imagine it would be suitable for children. ... Read review

Quaint but tired and in real need of a spring clean and re-decoration. Avoid room 6 with smelly corridor leading to it. A 4 poster bed again, quaint but creaky and small. Cold room even at this time of year (stayed there fri evening 26th Sept 2008). There is an open fire grate and an invitation to light a fire but you'll get charged an extra £10 if you do....I cant begin to think what this room is like in the middle of winter...... Anyway, ..we arrived ...
...the night so no meal available. So we went up to the Bull pub up the road where the landlord glared at us when we asked about eating and was rude and snarled that there was only fish and chips and some fishcakes left. So we had those and v nice indeed plus a real good ale ....shame the landlord was not a little more civil. I first stayed at the Bell Inn over 15 years ago when I was a young trainee accountant and was sent to Peterborough on an audit visit. It was very different, in a good way, to the usual type of establishment I was booked into on an audit visit and for that reason I have never forgotten it. The Bell Inn is an old fashioned coach house situated in the village of Stilton just outside Peterborough. ...wife and I stayed at Holm house in July 2008 for our wedding anniversary. It was a fantastic, long weekend of indulgence and luxury. The emphasis is most definitely on quality. At roughly midnight on the evening before we arrived, I remembered that I hadn't ordered any flowers for my better half. An e-mail and 10 minutes later, and job done. A member of staff had returned my e-mail and informed me he would personally get some flowers when the florist ...
...Somehow, the staff at Holm house just know the "right" amount to leave everything. We had nearly finished our drinks and the canapes, which were excellent, had been devoured, when we were taken through to the dinning room.
