By George, it's good!

Advantages: Reasonably priced, good location, good range of facilities, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Decor is tired and old; bathroom could have been cleaner

I have just stayed here for one night, on business. LOCATION The hotel is very easy to find, being on the A61 through Harrogate (the Ripon Road). It is centrally located so you can walk into the touristy bits of Harrogate from here if you want. It is right next to the International Convention Centre, which is where I imagine it gets a lot of business - that's why I went there. Its central location is a good point. It is a beautiful Edwardian manor ...
...usual dining room, bar etc, and a leisure suite too. It has a quite a small swimming pool and a gym and weights room, plus a sauna. This is all useful stuff, if you were staying a bit longer than one night, but I didn't try and of it so sorry I can't comment. It did all look clean and there were obviously plenty of towels etc. The prices were reasonable - a one hour massage for £35, for example. One downside of the hotel's facilities is the car park ...

Holiday Inn, Gatwick

Advantages: Very near the airport.
Disadvantages: none

I stayed at the holiday Inn Gatwick with my family before and after flying out to the caribbean. It was clean and friendly and even the kids enjoyed it. The rooms were quite spacious with tea and coffe facilities. I even called reception as there was only one hot chocolate between the 2 children, and they were at our room within minutes with more sachets and packets of biscuits. We ate an evening meal there too and it wasn't too badly priced! We ...

A Soviet Touch in an Old English City

Advantages: location
Disadvantages: old, unwelcoming and too expensive for what it offers

I stayed in the Lincoln Hotel the other day for just one night. I have to admit that I didn't spend much time on the premises so my report will be quite brief. When you look at the building from the outside, it makes you wonder what this Soviet-style hotel is doing next to the masterpiece of architecture - Lincoln Cathedral. It looks ridiculous. My husband and I were hoping to be pleasantly surprised by the interior, but there was no surprise there, ...
...of this wonderful city. The Lincoln Hotel is not particularly cheap - a double room cost us 80 pounds (around 145 US dollars) per night with breakfast for two. Review of Thistle Poole Quay Hotel, Poole

No heating and couldn't care less staff

Advantages: none - a waste of time, diesel and money
Disadvantages: See above!

We booked a family room for a Saturday night in late September (26/09/09 to be exact and I'm writing this at home the same evening! read on!) Would you believe that there is not heating? No really, none what so ever - not even a heated towel rail. It was quite a cool evening and getting colder as it does at this time of year so we asked why the heating wasn't on. Head office policy would you believe? They offered extra blankets but we would have ...
...a wedding party to deal with. What about us as paying guests? Two hours later our children wanted to go to sleep but still no blankets - we asked again and got the stock answer. It was now so cold my neck was stiff and I felt chilled right through. The children were unhappy and my wife who has cancer was feeling it more than me. We checked out amid a drunken rabble who had spilled out of one of the function rooms. One reveller nearly sent my wife ...
