Last Drop Village Hotel Advantages: Full usage of Spa, gym,pool Disadvantages: Choice of food served in main restaurant We have recently returned from our 3-day break at this hotel. After reading other reviews of this hotel we were very apprehensive about our stay. On our arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and made to feel very welcome. We were given very clear details of the facilities available to us and also breakfast and dinner times. Our executive room was lovely , clean and warm and well worth the extra supplement. Great choice at breakfast and carvery ... ...Inn. In my opinion we have had a very pleasurable stay,staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.Glad to see that the small quaint shops were still to the rear of the hotel which are not mentioned on their website. In my opinion there website does not do the hotel justice and needs some updating. If you want to stay in a traditional hotel then this is the one surroundings are lovely. De-lightful and stunning venue! Advantages: Excellent service, beautiful grounds, superb accommodation Disadvantages: Not close to public transport access ...if you go to the De Vere website. After lunch we took and gentle stroll in the grounds, and were able to view parts of the golf course that are part of the complex. As we were only staying for a long weekend, we didn't get the chance to make use of the spa and pool, which looked fantastic, and we only briefly had the chance to make use of the spacious bar area. Do Enjoy Your Stay - We Did!!! Advantages: Location, Facilities, Service Disadvantages: Cost Well words cannot describe how excited I was to be going to the Marriott for a romantic night away! Upon arriving my Fiance and I cannot help but notice how spotless the area is - inside and out. So good start! IReception staff dealt with all customers quickly, no-one was kept waiting around for ages. We actually got our room number, key and had our credit card details taken (for room service etc) within a very short space of time indeed! I would ... ...were very helpful offering to make reservations in the bar and grill for an evening meal and offering to have a paper delivered next morning. We opted for a table at 7pm to have a meal as they had a special Valentine's menu on. Weekend Away - Amazing location.. Advantages: Not far from Twycross Zoo - Excellent Zoo, stunning surroundings Disadvantages: Unfriendly, rooms needed some care (a good clean or revamp) £85 for the room - so guess we were expecting a little something special.. Staff - grumpy or sould I say very amateur. We stayed for 1 night with our 16 month old. Room up 3 flights of stairs, lift was not working - they never even told us there was a lift! Ok so there were 3 weddings going on - which I have to say made no difference to us, very quiet and no hassle. Walking along the coridoors the sofas really needed a good clean - entering our room ... ...a good scrub, bath was a tad on the grubby side - Shower was excellent, very powerful. Bed - you could definitely feel those springs and pillows were like pancakes. Carpet needed the cleaners in. Didnt even attempt the tea - coffee facilities. However it is in the most amazing surroundings. Oh we booked a non smoking room to be greetted with an ashtray. Breakfast ok - Waitress was on the night before and she tried to haggle on the supposed Free bottle ... Save yourself! Advantages: Has a shuttle to airport Disadvantages: Everything apart from shuttle! Awful. Never again! Rooms: Tatty, dated, dark, dingy, stuffy. Mattresses lumpy and bedding worn and smelt damp. Furniture in the room was worn and grubby. Not as they state "They are also very comfortable and tastefully decorated". Windows filthy, mouldy and flimsy. I would not have felt safe on the ground floor. Hairdryer nailed to draw but unable to reach plug socket! Very little tea and coffee in the room and the milk was off! Noisy main road, ... ...4am for a flight. No toiletries i.e. soap. TV remote had batteries missing. Then when I took it down for some, the remote did not work the TV anyway! TV buttons were broken. Poor quality picture. Not many channel choices. Web sites say they have a trouser press in the rooms; there was not one in either of our rooms. Breakfast only served after 5am. Odd when people are checking in and out all night and the desk is 24 hours.
