Great (non) customer service! Advantages: see text Disadvantages: see text ...business park. Luckily the Solent hotel was at this business park. While my partner organised getting our car scrapped, I headed towards the hotel, with my very fed up 18 month old son. I was greeted at the door with a big smile by the doorman. I asked about availability, and he told me there were rooms available, and to go on in. Another friendly face greeted me at reception which was in a beautiful large room, full of very dark wood, gentle lighting, ... ...can add information on the Solent to help potential Byers. The Solent hotel and spa, is part of the shires hotel group. It is just off the m27, in Fareham close to both Portsmouth and Southampton. It is aprox 1 hour from London. The hotel itself has many facilities, for businesses and weddings, as well as people who want a spa break. Lovely setting shame about the service Advantages: Heated pool, central location, evening meal was fabulous Disadvantages: Poor service, poor breakfast ...for a weekend away at Hackness grange hotel in Scarborough so we decided to give it a whirl. It is a 3 star so we didn't expect the ritz. We were upgraded to a courtyard room- it was small, dingy and smelt of damp. Also members of staff were smoking outside our room so the room smelt of cigarette fumes. But the shower was fantastic! The pool was lovely and warm and we had it all to ourselves for a good hour. The gardens were lovely aswell. Food- ... ...meal then this was the place (£25 for 3 courses). I would recommend this place for dinner. Breakfast on the other hand was awful- one day the food was barely cooked and the next the chef was just making up the orders as he went along or the waitresses were sending to the wrong tables. It was chaos. Fawlty towers eat your heart out! An adequate hotel Advantages: Big breakfasts close to Legoland Disadvantages: A bit tired, nothing special Hilton Bracknell On a recent trip to Legoland we chose this hotel because it was close to Legoland, near to the trains should we want to go into London, and best of all it offered a three day pass into Legoland FIRST IMPRESSIONS… The hotel is conveniently situated off a main road, and yet set far enough back so that there is no traffic noise and offers lots of parking round the back. Once we had taken our cases into the spacious lobby containing ... ...and chairs, the check in process was fairly speedy and simple, and we were given the keys to our room. THE BEDROOM AND BATHROOM Since it was only Little Miss and I, we had a twin room, containing, as expected, two single beds, bedside tables, desk and wardrobe with 4 hangers! No matter, we don't get to proud about hanging up our clothes! The room was clean and well maintained and quite tastefully decorated with a view onto the bins outside. Christmas at Cranage Advantages: Attractive hotel, good facilities, excellent party atmosphere Disadvantages: Expensive bar prices, rude waiting staff ...with his work colleagues at Cranage Hall which is in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. As this was some distance from home, we treated ourselves to a night away in the hotel without the kids, making a good night even better! Cranage Hall is part of the Principal Hayley group of conference venues and hotels but for us it was the setting of our Christmas 'do' and a well-deserved night away. Christmas Deals Our party had taken advantage of one of the ... ...when we pulled up outside Cranage Hall. The exterior is very grand and imposing and it was much bigger than I expected. Our sat nav managed to direct us to the hotel without any problems as the hotel is just a couple of miles out of Holmes Chapel, in the village of Cranage.
