Crowne Jewel of Chester
Advantages: Great Location. Clean and well laid out rooms Disadvantages: Car Parking, Exterior Aesthetics
...House, but The Crowne Plaza Chester (part of the Holiday Inn Group). Then to my dismay the website said the hotel didn't have any family rooms, so I decided to phone the hotel direct. Except I was put through to a central reservations team. I advised my requirements and said if they didn't have any family rooms did they have any connecting rooms. A very efficient, and friendly, girl took my details, put me on hold for a minute or so and came back ... ...off we set. arriving in Chester we followed the instructions supplied and arrived at the hotel without hitch (this was in the days before my shiney new TomTom as well). This is when my dissapointment hit. We arrived at 4.30pm on a Friday night (not a time I felt was particularly late) to be told that the car park was full and we'd have to park in the public NCP car park across the street, which we had to pay for (as it turns out you have to pay for ...

Our night at Rowton Hall
Advantages: Food Disadvantages: everything else
The worst experience at a luxury hotel I have ever had, and I have stayed at quite a few.
The service was absolutely appalling, we had no guest information in our room and were told to collect it ourselves. We ordered room service and then had a power outage - this was not corrected for some considerable time and we had to eat in the dark. At breakfast the next day we were completely ignored and 5 couples who entered the restaurant after us, were ...

Basic ok for overnight stop
Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Basic ok for overnight and short stays.
Stayed at this hotel on several occassions, usually booked in the Travelodge Sale, and always been satisfied. Rooms are basic and good value when booked at discount, but we feel the Premier nearby offers better value if paying the full rate.
Rooms have basic tea making facilities, bathrooms with showers over and basic tv packages. Beds have always been comfortable and extra bedding provided on request. No on site food service other than the shrink ... ...value. Hotel is next to the main shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead where there are several cafes, all a bit pricey. Several other restaurants nearby.
If opens are open at night, noise can be a problems as this is on the race route around the town centre. Car park is small for the number of rooms and finding a space if arriving late at night can be a problem. Car parks are available nearby at a cost. ...

Basic but a good overnight stop
Advantages: Good location, basic accomodation good value at discount rate Disadvantages: Basic, only ok for short stop over or base.
...are basic as with all travelodge Hotels and have either a bath or shower room. Each room has basic TV and tea making facilities. Beds have been comfortable on each visit and each bedding/pillows provided when requested. The hotel is just off the main A303 but we have never had any issues with noise but have not opened the windows either. The hotel is in a small service area next to a Little Chef where basic meals are available. We have not used this ...

Premier Inn Gatwick - Exceptional value for money, comfy & clean!
Advantages: Excellent value for money, very comfortable, clean and tasty food. Disadvantages: A bus ride away from the North terminal
I have flown from Gatwick airport early in the morning on several occasions and have always found it much easier to stay the night before and leisurely wander over to the North Terminal in the morning rather than try and make my way down in the car or on the train. I have stayed at both the Sofitel at Gatwick and the Premier Inn therefore, will review both however please be aware this is for the Premier Inn at Gatwick.
I have stayed at the Premier ... ...shower.
The Premier Inn Gatwick has a restaurant downstairs as well as a bar where you can order food from their bar menu. The restaurant menu is simple but the food is good, and includes dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognese and steak (as of September 2009). The bar menu is a little more basic with dishes such as pizza and burgers taking pride of place. The beauty of the bar menu however, is that you can order your food and then take it back to your ...
