Beautiful Location, Expensive Hotel
Advantages: Excellent location with beautiful views over the loch Disadvantages: Food and drink is very expensive
>>>>Overview<<<<
Macdonald Hotels have 40 hotels situated all over the UK. They have hotels in rural areas as well as in busy towns and city centres. They have mostly 4 and 5 star hotels and claim to offer impeccable service, fine cuisine and first class accommodation for a memorable stay. We decided to go away for a relaxing few days and chose the Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel as this looked like it would be perfect for us! "Hidden away amid 250 ... ...times".
>>>>Location<<<<
The Macdonald Loch Rannoch Hotel is situated in the picturesque village of Kinloch Rannoch set on the banks of Loch Rannoch. The village of Kinloch Rannoch is around 20 miles outside of the small town of Pitlochry and the City of Perth is about 45 miles away. Kinloch Rannoch really is in the middle of nowhere so as you can imagine the road to get there is very long, narrow and winding so you need to take your time. However, ...

Great hotel, great value
Advantages: Beautiful surroundings, comfortable hotel, friendly staff Disadvantages: Ripon is a little quiet...
...what time breakfast was, etc. Best Western Hotels are quite perculiar in the sense that even though they are part of a national chain, they are independantly and often family run, so this one felt very cosy. Our room was on the frist floor and over looked the front of the hotel, across a main road and onto a landscaped park opposite. The room was fairly small, just enought room for the furniture, but it was spotlessly clean, and had a large, very ... ...the tea & coffees were filled up several times and our bed neatly made. Breafast was served in the dining room which overlooked a bowling green, and was a help yourself buffet. The waiting staff were attentive. There was also th Turf Tavern bar at the hotel, which when we visietd was full of business men watching sport and didn't have much of an atomosphere. About 1 minutes walk away from the hotel was the Ripon Spa and pool, and you could buy discounted ...

Peaks and Troughs
Advantages: Location/ Attractive/ Leisure facilities Disadvantages: Inconsistent service/ Wi-Fi/ Bland rooms
My Wifes Mother and Father in law visited us last September. They reside in Portland, Oregon so we thought we'd treat them to a few days in the Peak District during their visit as they are keen walkers and lovers of countryside.
The hotel was said to have outstanding views over the Peak District, was 30 minutes from Manchester City Centre and had a self contained fitness centre and spa.
Three stars, spacious and luxurious rooms and only thirty ... ...BOOKING PROCESS
We booked via the internet and it was a very simple process indeed. Two rooms for £200 for the two nights bed and breakfast. Confirmation was sent via email immediately which we printed off so that we could present to reception upon our arrival. Payment would be taken after our departure.
GETTING THERE
We were travelling from South Yorkshire so it was a simple jaunt over the Pennines into Cheshire. Disley is located near Stockport ...

THE UNFRIENDLY CLUB'' -

...will refuse to do especially when they have taken £25 of my good earned cash.
They really do not care about their members, they seem to forget that it is us members that keep them in a job.
Avoid the camping and caravan club like the plague. ...

Holiday Inn Shepperton - prebooked? Beware - if you cancel
Advantages: NONE Disadvantages: ALL
...to cancel the stay with Holiday Inn re the current extreme bad weather problems for the journey by car from the North West for my 93 year old mother whose health would not be up to making such a potentially dangerous / uncertain journey.
Holiday Inn Shepperton have refused to give us a refund for cancellation of the booking which we find unbelievable given the current weather conditions.
Its the Holiday Inn attitude that pees me off, basically ... ...had a problem with a Holiday Inn booking in the '80s in the USA - wishing to transfer from a Holiday Inn in Hollywood where we had been staying to one at Anaheim - they made the transfer ok - but still charged us for the days stay not taken at Hollywood !
BEWARE FOLKS IF YOU MAKE A PREPAID BOOKING WITH HOLIDAY INNS AND THEN NEED TO CANCEL - THEY WILL STILL CHARGE YOU REGARDLESS !! BETTER NOT TO BOOK AT ALL AND JUST TURN UP IF YOU NEED TO USE HOLIDAY ...
