Excellent w/e at Belton Woods, Grantham

Advantages: Location, everything all on site
Disadvantages: None that we could see

Although this hotel was recommended to us by a friend, after reading the online reviews, we were somewhat apprehensive. We need not have worried, we had a surprisingly relaxing weekend with our 2 children,12 and 7 yrs old. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We ate in Stantons on the first evening and had a lovely 3 course meal, the waiters knew their menu and any changes we wanted to make were no problem at all. The family room was a reasonable ...
...would expect to find and more. We used the pool and spa facilities - at half term and on a weekend there are family splash times for an hour in the morning and afternoon, where floats and balls etc are put out for children to use, these are cleared away very quickly at the end of the hour and the pool becomes more peaceful. Although the hotel seemed very busy with outside events ( at least 2 weddings taking place) this didn't alter the level of service, ...

Coombe Abbey.. so much more than a hotel

Advantages: Great rooms, great food
Disadvantages: None

...is so much more to Coombe Abbey than simply just being a wondeful hotel. I have visited 'The Coombe' on a couple of occasions now, 2 weddings, 1 Christmas party and on many Sunday afternoon, just simply strolling through the picteresque grounds. A long drive way takes you up to Coombe Abbey and on eather side as you drive up the very impressive driveway you have lovely greenery and trees. There is a car park on the right hand side (don't park here ...
...views, weather and all that Coombe Abbey as to offer. It was a great family atmosphere. Drive a little further up and you will come to the hotel car park (again located on the right). There is then a little walk over the moat bridge to the magnificent hotel ( or get your other half to drive over the moat bridge and drop you off at the door!). The Hotel Originally Coombe Abbey was a 12th Century Cistercian Abbey (at a party I went to a monk did ...

A perfect, quiet weekend away

Advantages: Excellent location, service and facilities
Disadvantages: Quite expensive; hardly a thrill-seeker's paradise

...acres of woodland, adjacent to Newcastle Racecourse and about 4 miles north of Newcastle city centre, the Marriott Gosforth Park's location is unrivalled for space and sheer greenery. Literally 30 seconds' drive from the A1, it is nevertheless so far removed from hustle and bustle that you could be in the middle of the Yorkshire dales. The building itself is some way short of spectacular, viewed externally. It is grey brick, very angular, functional ...
...patch for British architecture as Newcastle City Council have recently realised, looking on in dismay as the cost of demolishing the bulk of the abysmal John Dobson Street skyrockets. T. Dan Smith's legacy is finally being put to rest at long last and you'll be hard-pushed to find someone in Newcastle who's crying about it. Inside the hotel is a wholly different matter; the marble floors of the reception area are elegant and beautifully polished ...

Fabulous 4-star hotel for weddings and pampering!

Advantages: Exclusive, Friendly staff, Impeccible Service, unique decor, amazing food, huge wine list, well-kept grounds, statues
Disadvantages: Very popular and busy when Newbury Race Course meetings are on

...I first stayed at Donnington Valley hotel in 2001 for just one night when on a job interview. I wasn't offered the job, but that one night with dinner and breakfast was enough to convince me that this was a special hotel. Special enough that 3 years later I got married there. Now... the fact that I got married there may make me biased and it nearly stopped me from writing this review. However, so many of our friends and family have gone back again ...
...be wrong! Originally, the hotel had 58 rooms. All decorated to very high standards with a number of suites available. Over the past 2 years though they have expanded the hotel to almost double their room capacity to 111 all of which have been revamped in very luxurious creams, reds and browns. At the same time they have added a Spa to the hotel which was the only thing I ever felt was missing from the hotel originally. (However, the opportunity ...

Christmas at Cranage

Advantages: Attractive hotel, good facilities, excellent party atmosphere
Disadvantages: Expensive bar prices, rude waiting staff

...with his work colleagues at Cranage Hall which is in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. As this was some distance from home, we treated ourselves to a night away in the hotel without the kids, making a good night even better! Cranage Hall is part of the Principal Hayley group of conference venues and hotels but for us it was the setting of our Christmas 'do' and a well-deserved night away. Christmas Deals Our party had taken advantage of one of the ...
...when we pulled up outside Cranage Hall. The exterior is very grand and imposing and it was much bigger than I expected. Our sat nav managed to direct us to the hotel without any problems as the hotel is just a couple of miles out of Holmes Chapel, in the village of Cranage. There was more than adequate car parking available, despite the hotel being packed with other Christmas revellers, although it did mean a short walk over to the main entrance ...
