I have resorted to five stars for Lough Erne Golf Resort Advantages: Excellent food, accommodation and service Disadvantages: None The Lough Erne Golf Resort and Spa is listed on Ciao as a 4 star hotel, but it is now actually a 5 star facility. I have just reached a milestone age, I celebrated my 40th birthday and I asked my husband to arrange a night away for the two of us, a major logistical feat for us. I am a married mother of three children, aged 8, 5 and 15 months and I work full-time so arranging any free time let alone a night away is something of a major event. Good but not quite there! Advantages: Clean spacious & new Disadvantages: A bit sterile and spa not up to scratch I stayed here for two nights in July 08. The hotel was new (it had only been open a few months). I live locally but stayed here for a wedding. There was plenty of parking available and an undercover walk way to the reception area (It was raining so very much apprieciated!) We had a block booking (6 rooms), on arrival all the bookings were as they should have been and check in was easy. We were allocated a room on the ground floor. The view was of ... ...for the view! The room had everything you needed Hair dryer, kettle with tea and coffee, iron and ironing board. There was plenty of space a large comfy double bed table with two chair and a table. Also dressing table and mirror and also good lighting (for make-up purposes!!). Room service was a bit on the slow side but nothing to really complain about and the bar area clean but a bit on the sterile side. We used the Spa facilities which offered ... Amazing place to play golf and get some spa action Advantages: low cost and vast space and wild surroundings Disadvantages: might need a golf buggy to get around Five lakes country club is in Maldon, Essex, near to Colchester, and half an hour's drive from the M25. The nearest airport is Stansted, and the centre offers all the facilities for a relaxing getaway location within easy reach of the capital. Maldon is a pretty coastal town, famous for its tan-sailed Thames barges and its sea salt, while nearby Colchester Castle is the largest Norman keep in Europe. Basic ok for overnight stop Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Basic ok for overnight and short stays. Stayed at this hotel on several occassions, usually booked in the Travelodge Sale, and always been satisfied. Rooms are basic and good value when booked at discount, but we feel the Premier nearby offers better value if paying the full rate. Rooms have basic tea making facilities, bathrooms with showers over and basic tv packages. Beds have always been comfortable and extra bedding provided on request. No on site food service other than the shrink ... ...value. Hotel is next to the main shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead where there are several cafes, all a bit pricey. Several other restaurants nearby. If opens are open at night, noise can be a problems as this is on the race route around the town centre. Car park is small for the number of rooms and finding a space if arriving late at night can be a problem. Car parks are available nearby at a cost. ... Basic but a good overnight stop Advantages: Good location, basic accomodation good value at discount rate Disadvantages: Basic, only ok for short stop over or base. ...are basic as with all travelodge Hotels and have either a bath or shower room. Each room has basic TV and tea making facilities. Beds have been comfortable on each visit and each bedding/pillows provided when requested. The hotel is just off the main A303 but we have never had any issues with noise but have not opened the windows either. The hotel is in a small service area next to a Little Chef where basic meals are available. We have not used this ...
