Great for the business traveller Advantages: Location, clean, lovely rooms, gym Disadvantages: None Chester being a place I visit regularly with work means that I have stayed at a number of Chester hotels. Queens has, now become my regular for a number of reasons. It is located bang outside the train station which is excellent if you are travelling by rail as no need to wait for taxis or stagger into town. It is about 5 minutes walk from the town centre and about two minutes walk from the oldest curry house in Chester which is mindblowingly good! ... ...greeted by smiling staff and a lovely concierge (ask him for top places to eat in Chester - he is a fountain of knowledge!!!). There is sometimes sherry on arrival too which is nice. Now the rooms in the main hotel are nice but for a luxury stay ask for a room in the New Kings Extension. It only opened in October and is a few minutes walk from the reception but worth it. Centrally located, excellent hotel Advantages: Location & facilities Disadvantages: Car park charges £7.50 per night This is a lovely hotel which is right in the town centre. You can park your car up and not use it again until you go home. Everything Chester has to offer is on your doorstep. You walk out of the main doors and the main shopping streets are right there. The rooms are tastefully decorated with the usual refinements, tea coffee making facilities, hairdryer, ironing board and iron, satellite tv, wireless access, air conditioning. It is located not far ... ...races. Also in November they have a firework display which is spectacular and can be seen from some of the hotel windows. The bar is a bit pricey but no different from many similar hotels and you are so close to the bars and restaurants of Chester that you can make your own choice where to drink. They have club motivation which comprises of gym equipment, pool (albeit only small), steam room, sauna room and jacuzzi. Chester best... Advantages: Location; giant breakfasts Disadvantages: Smaller rooms than I was expecting We stayed here with the Tesco clubcard scheme last December and thoroughly enjoyed it. HOTEL LOCATION/DESCRIPTION The hotel is located immediately next to the Park & Ride for Chester Centre. This meant that we could leave our car in the hotel car park and walk the 50 metres to the park & ride. What an excellent location - it couldn't be more better placed for visitors to the city - no trying to park in the centre and getting lost! The hotel itself ... ...sized car park (I would imagine that it fills up before the hotel does given how busy it was when we arrived) and a stunning front elevation to the hotel. Very modern looking and gives a great first impression. Upon entering the hotel you immediately walk into a large open plan space which comprises a bar; seating area and large reception area. Crowne Jewel of Chester Advantages: Great Location. Clean and well laid out rooms Disadvantages: Car Parking, Exterior Aesthetics ...House, but The Crowne Plaza Chester (part of the Holiday Inn Group). Then to my dismay the website said the hotel didn't have any family rooms, so I decided to phone the hotel direct. Except I was put through to a central reservations team. I advised my requirements and said if they didn't have any family rooms did they have any connecting rooms. A very efficient, and friendly, girl took my details, put me on hold for a minute or so and came back ... ...off we set. arriving in Chester we followed the instructions supplied and arrived at the hotel without hitch (this was in the days before my shiney new TomTom as well). This is when my dissapointment hit. We arrived at 4.30pm on a Friday night (not a time I felt was particularly late) to be told that the car park was full and we'd have to park in the public NCP car park across the street, which we had to pay for (as it turns out you have to pay for ... Premier Inn Gatwick - Exceptional value for money, comfy & clean! Advantages: Excellent value for money, very comfortable, clean and tasty food. Disadvantages: A bus ride away from the North terminal I have flown from Gatwick airport early in the morning on several occasions and have always found it much easier to stay the night before and leisurely wander over to the North Terminal in the morning rather than try and make my way down in the car or on the train. I have stayed at both the Sofitel at Gatwick and the Premier Inn therefore, will review both however please be aware this is for the Premier Inn at Gatwick. I have stayed at the Premier ... ...shower. The Premier Inn Gatwick has a restaurant downstairs as well as a bar where you can order food from their bar menu. The restaurant menu is simple but the food is good, and includes dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognese and steak (as of September 2009). The bar menu is a little more basic with dishes such as pizza and burgers taking pride of place. The beauty of the bar menu however, is that you can order your food and then take it back to your ...
