Isles of Glencoe Hotel, Ballachulish

Advantages: Beautiful scenery and lots to do
Disadvantages: Expensive

I visited the Isles of Glencoe Hotel in April 2008 with my partner. It was a last minute decision to book a long weekend away to Scotland, and it was by far the best choice we could have made. The views on the drive up to the hotel from Glasgow airport were amazing, and once at the hotel, the scenery was absolutely breath taking. It couldn't have been situated in nicer surroundings. There was plenty to do surrounding the hotel, whether it be outside ...
...hotel grounds were also ample, having a swimming pool and sauna provided, as well as outdoor activities on the the loch. There were also many walks and climbs just outside the main entrance. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, however the service could be quite solw. This was not really a problem as it was such a relaxing break that it was quite nice to sit and chill out in the restaurant. Drinks were also ...

The Grey Gull Inn (Worth visiting)

Advantages: Location, Good Food & Welcoming
Disadvantages: No Leisure Facilities ?!!

We stayed at the Grey Gull Inn a couple of weeks ago and can't agree in any part with what the previous review says. The Owner was very accommodating, welcoming and helpful. The hotel was very busy and the atmosphere in the dining area and Lounge was good, staff were happy and cheerful and very helpful. Our room was lovely, had lovely views over the loch and was very comfortable. Our room was spacious and the decor was nice. The bathroom was fine ...
...a room on the top floor and again it was nice and comfortable, they didnt have a shower but instead an old victorian style bath which was lovely. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend it, infact already have done, to our friends. (Lets hope the experience the previous persons had is a one off !) ...

The Worst!

Advantages: Nice view of Loch in the distance
Disadvantages: See text

...25 we arrived at the Stewart Hotel in Appin where I had made a reservation for two nights the day before because a very friendly assistant in the hotel in Forres had given me the Stewart's address (obviously not knowing more about the hotel than what's to be found on the Internet which only sounds quite good. Checking in (and much to my surprise) the manager (proprietor?) wanted to have my signature under the credit card print in advance, but as ...
...it to him. He charged us 265.- pounds and therefore we expected a rather comfortable room as we had been offered in other hotels of the same price range. When he showed us into the room he explained about the wonderful view (correct!) and then left quickly. On closer inspection it turned out not only not to have the kingsize bed (which he had promised on the phone) but also to have only the tiniest of bathrooms with mold in the tub and a very dirty ...

Premier Inn Gatwick - Exceptional value for money, comfy & clean!

Advantages: Excellent value for money, very comfortable, clean and tasty food.
Disadvantages: A bus ride away from the North terminal

I have flown from Gatwick airport early in the morning on several occasions and have always found it much easier to stay the night before and leisurely wander over to the North Terminal in the morning rather than try and make my way down in the car or on the train. I have stayed at both the Sofitel at Gatwick and the Premier Inn therefore, will review both however please be aware this is for the Premier Inn at Gatwick. I have stayed at the Premier ...
...shower. The Premier Inn Gatwick has a restaurant downstairs as well as a bar where you can order food from their bar menu. The restaurant menu is simple but the food is good, and includes dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognese and steak (as of September 2009). The bar menu is a little more basic with dishes such as pizza and burgers taking pride of place. The beauty of the bar menu however, is that you can order your food and then take it back to your ...

We had a great time at The Shears Inn, Collingbourne Ducis

Advantages: A place to relax and unwind in the countryside, with excellent food.
Disadvantages: Can't think of any

...from a short stay at The Shears Inn at Collingbourne Ducis. This lovely thatched inn is enhanced by the quality of the welcome received, the relaxed atmosphere and the excellent food and drink, served by Sophie, always with a smile. We were just 15 minutes away from the stunning Stonehenge, where we enjoyed our visit on a cold but sunny morning, and 20 minutes from the lovely town of Marlborlborough where there is lots to do and see. The Inn itself ...
...alongside gallops where you may see the local race horses excercising if you are up early enough. It is a great base if you are a keen walker, there were people staying who brought their dog who was also made very welcome. All in all a great place to stay. ...
