I'm back on the road again
Advantages: Clean rooms, nearby pub very good Disadvantages: Heating, beds on the soft side
This Premier Travel Inn (PTI) hotel is on the northern outskirts of Ashford just off the A20 to Lenham and is only 2 1/2 miles from junction 9 of the M20. This hotel has two storeys high with a good sized outside car park for 128 vehicles. The outside lighting is good and the shrubbery around the hotel is well maintained. The entrance is at ground level and as I recall there is a ramped entrance.
Bookings for this hotel can be via the Internet or ... ...central reservations telephone number is 0870 242 8000. For this hotel the direct line is 0870 977 018 and the fax line is 01233 713945. As I use my companies business account I have to get the cardholder (my boss) to fax a confirmation to them before I arrive so they can process my reservation quickly when I get there. You will normally be asked for a time of arrival, which in my case is always after 6pm. If you wish to cancel you room you can ring ...

A Nasty Experience
Advantages: The main building is beautiful. Disadvantages: Rooms, furnishing, being stolen from and especially the service
Booked to stay at The Croft over the phone, giving them my debit card details.
When we arrived at the hotel we were given a family room priced at £88. The room was disgusting. It was in a nasty little portacabin style out-building behind the main hotel, and the furniture inside looked like it had come out of a skip behind an old folks home. It was scuffed, threadbare and they style would have been out of date by the 1970's. It was ancient, so I've ... ...and nicer. We told the receptionist that we were leaving, because the room was not up to standard and inquired about the cancellation fee. She told us there was none, so we left. 2 hours later the manager phones to tell us there is a fee of £20. We return to the hotel to dispute this, but the manager refuses to meet with us choosing to conduct the argument over the phone, and in the process begins to insult us accusing us of not being able to afford ...

Travelodge Ashford : Good Value
Advantages: Good travel links, good location Disadvantages: Rooms could have done with updating
...was fairly standard for a Travelodge, big double bed, sofabed, desk, tea/coffee making facilities and bathroom. Our room was clean and tidy but showing it's age a bit and could have done with a refurbishment. There were enough towels and pillows, although if you wanted a hairdryer I think you had to ask at reception.
Downstairs there was a bar and restaurant place where you could get food, although you weren't short of food options within walking ... ...on our way to catch a ferry but I liked that it was available and I think it was all you can eat for a set price.
The bar was well stocked and decently priced, and there were the usual vending machines for snacks and drinks as well other travel essentials.
Check out was quick, it's all pre-paid so it was just a matter of dropping off the key. There was no-one around when we left and it was quite busy so we just dropped off the key and went on our ...

Basic ok for overnight stop
Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Basic ok for overnight and short stays.
Stayed at this hotel on several occassions, usually booked in the Travelodge Sale, and always been satisfied. Rooms are basic and good value when booked at discount, but we feel the Premier nearby offers better value if paying the full rate.
Rooms have basic tea making facilities, bathrooms with showers over and basic tv packages. Beds have always been comfortable and extra bedding provided on request. No on site food service other than the shrink ... ...value. Hotel is next to the main shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead where there are several cafes, all a bit pricey. Several other restaurants nearby.
If opens are open at night, noise can be a problems as this is on the race route around the town centre. Car park is small for the number of rooms and finding a space if arriving late at night can be a problem. Car parks are available nearby at a cost. ...

Basic but a good overnight stop
Advantages: Good location, basic accomodation good value at discount rate Disadvantages: Basic, only ok for short stop over or base.
...are basic as with all travelodge Hotels and have either a bath or shower room. Each room has basic TV and tea making facilities. Beds have been comfortable on each visit and each bedding/pillows provided when requested. The hotel is just off the main A303 but we have never had any issues with noise but have not opened the windows either. The hotel is in a small service area next to a Little Chef where basic meals are available. We have not used this ...
