As it is easy to get away from, it is also an excellent location for anybody looking to enjoy the sights and scenes of the Lake District. It has free parking on site, and plenty of other facilities, Sauna and indoor pool, a games room aswell as a decently equipped gym and a nice bar area to relax in. All major credit cards are used and pets are allowed in, but you have to tell the staff of this before arrival. The size of your room can also be upgraded by one if required aswell. Not easy to find but worth finding Advantages: Comfortable, good food, good service Disadvantages: Hard to find It's not the easiest of places to find, but worth searching for all the same. You can access it from the Carlisle to Hexham road or from the M6 motorway but my advice is to get directions before you travel there. My room was fantastic, very spacious, very comfortable & reasonably well equipped. Although the two windows in my room overlooked Wetheral railway station, very little noise was heard. The restaurant downstairs was packed, (a good sign) ... ...room was available. It was worth the wait as the food & service were excellent. Breakfast facilities were located in a different area, with ample choice & once again good service. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who plans to stay in the area, just make sure you have your directions with you first. ... A decent city centre location Advantages: Clean, nicely equipped, location Disadvantages: Parking, lousy barman ...the 2nd. I contacted the Lakes Court Hotel in Carlisle who normally charge £75.00 a night plus breakfast & negotiated a figure of £65.00 including breakfast. Its location was perfect, it's right in the city centre adjacent to the main door of the railway station. Finding the hotel at 5pm on a busy weekday in the dark turned out to be easier than I imagined, even without sat nav you just follow the signs for the railway station. Finding a parking ... ...was in when I drew up in front of the impressive entrance to the hotel & found a space right at the door. However my luck changed when I was informed that the space belongs to the Railway station & that I only have 20 minutes to remain parked. The hotel doesn't have many parking spaces but as you drive around the hotel there is an indoor car park which is locked with sturdy gates at night. Basic ok for overnight stop Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Basic ok for overnight and short stays. Stayed at this hotel on several occassions, usually booked in the Travelodge Sale, and always been satisfied. Rooms are basic and good value when booked at discount, but we feel the Premier nearby offers better value if paying the full rate. Rooms have basic tea making facilities, bathrooms with showers over and basic tv packages. Beds have always been comfortable and extra bedding provided on request. No on site food service other than the shrink ... ...value. Hotel is next to the main shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead where there are several cafes, all a bit pricey. Several other restaurants nearby. If opens are open at night, noise can be a problems as this is on the race route around the town centre.
