Holiday Inn Coventry
Advantages: Close to M6 and sight seing in the Midlands Disadvantages: Its not 4* and you pay on line
...choice of hotel was the Holiday Inn because the cost was £37.95 per night and only 1 weeks notice, We usually use Travelodge and get a room for £15 or £26. Concidering there is a gym and swimming pool we felt it was good value.
The room was on the small side but fine for just the one night that we were staying. Shampoo etc provided as was tea and coffee. There was a shortage of towels which were brought to our room so quickly I didn't have time ... ...modern with a wide open reception area with a little coffee shop the dining room was close by . Close by are pubs where you can get a meal. Across the road there is a McDonnel with a large play area for children.
Breakfast was not included but there was an offer on £8 each so we decided to treat our selfs. It was at Breakfast that the hotel showed its true colours. Several staff members failed to come into work on the Sunday morning, and we were ...

Coombe Abbey.. so much more than a hotel
Advantages: Great rooms, great food Disadvantages: None
...is so much more to Coombe Abbey than simply just being a wondeful hotel. I have visited 'The Coombe' on a couple of occasions now, 2 weddings, 1 Christmas party and on many Sunday afternoon, just simply strolling through the picteresque grounds. A long drive way takes you up to Coombe Abbey and on eather side as you drive up the very impressive driveway you have lovely greenery and trees. There is a car park on the right hand side (don't park here ... ...views, weather and all that Coombe Abbey as to offer. It was a great family atmosphere. Drive a little further up and you will come to the hotel car park (again located on the right). There is then a little walk over the moat bridge to the magnificent hotel ( or get your other half to drive over the moat bridge and drop you off at the door!). The Hotel Originally Coombe Abbey was a 12th Century Cistercian Abbey (at a party I went to a monk did ...

Ideal for Coventry City fans (allegedly)
Advantages: Decent room, friendly service Disadvantages: A bit out from the centre of the city
INTRODUCTION
Travelling to Coventry to one of my company's offices for the first time, I picked the Novotel thanks to our booking system which immediately pointed me to the cheapest option available. Some way out of town, I wasn't expecting it to be anything memorable, but I was at least hopeful of it giving me a decent nights rest. Here is what I found.
LOCATION
Apparently it's 10 minutes from the centre of Coventry, Birmingham Airport ... ...Arena, home of Coventry Town Football Club. It doesn't say whether this is 10 minutes is walking or driving. We were told there was a curry house about a 15 minute walk away, right from the hotel, under the railway bridge and straight on down Longford Road, Nashaa. We went there and I have to say it was excellent and I'd highly recommend it if you're staying in the area. There were also various takeaways and small supermarkets down that road so you'd ...

Coventry Hell Hotel
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Horrific Decor, terrible service
...exact. We were flying from Coventry and as we had to be at the airport at the ungodly hour of 5am and parking at Coventry airport is non-existent, we decided to really push the boat our & book an overnight stay at an airport hotel with a fly/park package. I booked using Brittannia's online booking facility (http://www.flightparks.com/Default.asp?Page=60) by following the ‘Coventry Airport’ link. The total cost of our stay, to include 1 night at the ... ...were travelling to and from Coventry and not Birmingham. We reserved transport to arrive at Coventry one hour before the latest check-in time, as advised by the Assistant Manager.
We then went to our room where we experienced a mixture of disappointment and horror. Like the rest of the hotel, the room had obviously not been redecorated since the 70s and even the bedspread looked like it had been in use since the hotel first opened. The wallpaper ...

Too Many Hiccups at the Hilton?
Advantages: In a good location, many friendly members of staff, spacious rooms Disadvantages: Questionable hygiene and maintenance issues
Long before a certain American socialite claimed that everything under the sun was ‘hot’, the name ‘Hilton’ was most commonly recognised as being an international hotel empire. Having expanded throughout the 20th century, from humble beginnings in Dallas, Texas, I’ve always thought of Hilton hotels as havens for businessmen trying to impress potential clients. Alas, as if you haven’t noticed, there is a global recession going on and the chain has ... ...need of a leisurely break the opportunity to stay in their hotels at a reasonable cost.
As a result of some rather difficult family circumstances, my folks didn’t want to venture too far away from home this summer. Whilst Coventry might not sound like everyone’s ideal holiday destination, it was far enough away from Lincolnshire so we could explore attractions that aren’t reachable within a day’s travel but at the same time, it wasn’t too far away ...
