Ennerdale Country House Hotel Cleator Advantages: Lovely location, excellent food and staff. Rooms were great. Disadvantages: A bit remote, Noisy shredder in the toilet. My partner and I visited the hotel as a last weekend break for us without the children as I was 7 months pregnant at the time. The hotel is situated in a fairly remote area i.e. not a town / villiage centre so driving would be a definate advantage. We were able to visit most of the lakes from this location and spent most of our time driving to the surrounding coastal towns, villiages and lakes. The staff were excellent and could not have done ... ...one night and the weather was not brilliant so it got quite cold in the night. One member of staff arranged for us to have a small heater and a blanket, which did the trick. They also took a phone delivery for me with no problems. The food was really lovely and there was an excellent choice for breakfast. Well the Swallow Hilltop may be the place for you: With a total of 92 rooms, the Hilltop is easily found from the M6 motorway, and is in close proximity to the central shopping areas in Carlisle - a 30 minute walk or only a five minute drive. As it is easy to get away from, it is also an excellent location for anybody looking to enjoy the sights and scenes of the Lake District. The acutal hotal of an average standard, a two star ... ...charming and the food on premises was of a good standard. It has free parking on site, and plenty of other facilities, Sauna and indoor pool, a games room aswell as a decently equipped gym and a nice bar area to relax in. All major credit cards are used and pets are allowed in, but you have to tell the staff of this before arrival. The size of your room can also be upgraded by one if required aswell. Nent Hall Hotel Alston Cumbria Advantages: None Disadvantages: Poor staffing, Restaurant not always open ...3 day stay at the Nent Hotel. The room was lacking a cup and had no towels but was generally in good order. There was no information pack regarding meal times and hotel arrangements etc. The restaurant was pleasant, apart from piped music (6 awful crooner tracks repeated) and the menu was short and rather over priced. Returning from a Sunday's touring at 11.10 p.m. I was amazed to find the place locked up and all staff gone home! After ten minutes ... ...guest. This is quite un-acceptable. A neighbour across the road with in structions to 'keep an eye on the place' came across and found my room key. Incidentally, the restaurant was closed for the next two days, residents having to eat in the bar.The place is badly in need of more staff and in my opinion should not be accepting guests while there is no overnight staffing. THE UNFRIENDLY CLUB'' - Advantages: None Disadvantages: So many ...will refuse to do especially when they have taken £25 of my good earned cash. They really do not care about their members, they seem to forget that it is us members that keep them in a job. Avoid the camping and caravan club like the plague. ... Holiday Inn Shepperton - prebooked? Beware - if you cancel Advantages: NONE Disadvantages: ALL ...to cancel the stay with Holiday Inn re the current extreme bad weather problems for the journey by car from the North West for my 93 year old mother whose health would not be up to making such a potentially dangerous / uncertain journey. Holiday Inn Shepperton have refused to give us a refund for cancellation of the booking which we find unbelievable given the current weather conditions. Its the Holiday Inn attitude that pees me off, basically ... ...had a problem with a Holiday Inn booking in the '80s in the USA - wishing to transfer from a Holiday Inn in Hollywood where we had been staying to one at Anaheim - they made the transfer ok - but still charged us for the days stay not taken at Hollywood !
