A Disapointing few days
Advantages: Comfy Beds Disadvantages: Tiny rooms, laughable gym, low standards
The Ramada Hotel, Dover looks very impressive from their website but I have to say the reality falls very short of the expectations you might build up from that. Having booked a Double room we expected it to resemble the photo of a double bedded guest room.....we were very wrong!
We arrived late at night and were directed to our room, it was barely big enough to fit the bed in there, to move around among the bed, small table and 2 chairs you had ... ...was the supposed interactive tv, this again was not what was expected, there were only 4 of the terrestrial channels to view (the 5th was just missing and the 2 sky channels had been turned off). The interactive part came from the limited ability to purchase items and supposedly view your bill (this too never worked while we were staying there)
In the morning I needed to iron my partners WHITE shirt (we were staying at the Ramada to attend a family ...

Not bad great location
Advantages: Great location Disadvantages: Old fashioned
Good location on Dover waterfront with a nice sea view. The interior of the hotel is old fashioned; the room itself was clean and comfortable. An old style bathroom but both room and bathroom was spacious enough.
I only stayed one night at this hotel in a double sea facing room which cost £80 (room only), as we wanted to be close to the cruise terminal to join the cruise ship the next day. Check in was quick and easy and the staff pleasant. (Check ... ...brasserie and bar I didn't go there so no comment on it from me.
It's within walking distance to town and cruise terminals although we used a cab which was maximum of 5 minutes to the cruise ship only because it was a cold October day and didn't feel like walking. The hotel is also about 5 minute's taxi ride from the train station to the hotel. Not bad! ...

Basic ok for overnight stop
Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Basic ok for overnight and short stays.
Stayed at this hotel on several occassions, usually booked in the Travelodge Sale, and always been satisfied. Rooms are basic and good value when booked at discount, but we feel the Premier nearby offers better value if paying the full rate.
Rooms have basic tea making facilities, bathrooms with showers over and basic tv packages. Beds have always been comfortable and extra bedding provided on request. No on site food service other than the shrink ... ...value. Hotel is next to the main shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead where there are several cafes, all a bit pricey. Several other restaurants nearby.
If opens are open at night, noise can be a problems as this is on the race route around the town centre. Car park is small for the number of rooms and finding a space if arriving late at night can be a problem. Car parks are available nearby at a cost. ...

Basic but a good overnight stop
Advantages: Good location, basic accomodation good value at discount rate Disadvantages: Basic, only ok for short stop over or base.
...are basic as with all travelodge Hotels and have either a bath or shower room. Each room has basic TV and tea making facilities. Beds have been comfortable on each visit and each bedding/pillows provided when requested. The hotel is just off the main A303 but we have never had any issues with noise but have not opened the windows either. The hotel is in a small service area next to a Little Chef where basic meals are available. We have not used this ...

Premier Inn Gatwick - Exceptional value for money, comfy & clean!
Advantages: Excellent value for money, very comfortable, clean and tasty food. Disadvantages: A bus ride away from the North terminal
I have flown from Gatwick airport early in the morning on several occasions and have always found it much easier to stay the night before and leisurely wander over to the North Terminal in the morning rather than try and make my way down in the car or on the train. I have stayed at both the Sofitel at Gatwick and the Premier Inn therefore, will review both however please be aware this is for the Premier Inn at Gatwick.
I have stayed at the Premier ... ...shower.
The Premier Inn Gatwick has a restaurant downstairs as well as a bar where you can order food from their bar menu. The restaurant menu is simple but the food is good, and includes dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognese and steak (as of September 2009). The bar menu is a little more basic with dishes such as pizza and burgers taking pride of place. The beauty of the bar menu however, is that you can order your food and then take it back to your ...
