Definitely Value for Money!! Advantages: Value for money, Clean Disadvantages: Every room is the same! If you've been to one Travel Inn, you've been to them all, but in saying that it doesn't make them any less value for money. The Gourdie Croft is situated on the outskirts of Dundee, just as you approach the city from the A9. It's linked to a Brewers Fayre & has ample parking, with a choice of 3 car parks! On arrival the reception area is a bright & welcoming area, with a drinks & vending machine. The staff are welcoming, friendly & efficient & ... ...hotel itself is like most Travel Inns. There are signs up indicating which direction each room are in. This is however where the Gourdie Croft is a bit different! Most rooms are to the left of reception. Some however are to the right, and when you go through the door expecting to be in another carpeted corridor you find to your surprise that you're outside again!! Swallow Hotel Dundee - PLEASE RATE ME. Advantages: Relatively Cheap, Nice grounds Disadvantages: Far from City Centre, Basic Facilities I stayed at the Swallow Hotel which is not actually in Dundee but infact in the council region of Perth and Kinross. Anywhow it has a Dundee postcode and is approximately a 15 min bus ride from the City Centre. The hotel itself is relatively nicely presented with a reception area,bar and restaurant area as you would expect from any hotel. The surroundings are also very pleasant as it is mostly surrounded by fields and it quiet too so getting to sleep ... ...Rooms were relatively clean but the windows were a bit fiddly to open and close. As a guest you also get use of the gym,jacuzzi,swimming pool and sauna which was good since they were free. The room was equipped with en-suite rooms and you there were tea/coffee making facilities as you would get in every place. Invercarse Hotel, Dundee Advantages: Friendly, helpful staff Disadvantages: Creaky corridor floors The Invercarse Hotel is situated about 3 miles from Dundee city centre, railway and bus stations in lush landscaped grounds overlooking the River Tay and nearby small Airport. A busy hotel for weddings and functions, the hotel has ample car parking though few are near Reception. Reception staff were helpfully efficient, checking in and out was not too onerous. Bedrooms were clean and functional featuring wall mounted flat screen TVs and free WiFi ... ...bedrooms were peaceful and quiet. Bathrooms small, plenty hot water though the over-bath shower was difficult to get to temperature. Tap water was warm to drink, but complimentary bottled water was available from the bar. Dinner was good, a nice and varied menu and helpful knowledgable staff. Breakfast was excellent for carnivores - bacon, choice of sausages, black pudding - but hot choices were limited for vegetarians - scrambled eggs, hash browns, ... There are in fact 5 Premier Travel Inns, in the Dundee area, Dundee North as being reviewed, Dundee Centre, Dundee West, Dundee East and Dundee Monifieth prospectively.
