You'd be better off at a campsite! Advantages: Umm... Disadvantages: Just about everything, I think! Ah, the George. Local to me, last October I went in for Sunday lunch with a friend. I should have heard the warning bells ringing when I was served barely-cooked beef and cold cauliflower, but everyone makes mistakes - right? The waitress was not at all apologetic; she merely looked inconvenienced; however she did return with a fresh meal. Hurrah. The following evening, I was in town with my fiancé and we decided to pop in for a bite to eat anyway. ... ...serving from the lounge menu, at which point she held her hand up to us and said impatiently: 'I'll be back in a minute, yeah?!' So my fiancé stood and waited. And waited. She came back from what she was doing, walked straight past us several times, and completely ignored us for a further ten minutes as she chatted to a colleague. Stansted Express Advantages: quickest way to get to Stansted; frequent Disadvantages: expensive; not as fast as other 'express' services I've been flying from Stansted/Gatwick where possible since I missed a flight from horribly over-crowded Heathrow because of ridiculous queues. The only drawback to this is that Stansted isn't reachable by tube. Single price on this train is £15.50 if bought from a ticket stand, but both online and return fares work out cheaper, especially if you purchase a return ticket online (£23.50). Some airlines also offer discounted tickets for the train ... ...15 minutes to and from Liverpool St station, which is easily accessible by tube and bus. The journey time of 45 minutes is excellent when compared to the time it would take to reach the airport by bus (I've tried this once and wouldn't advise it; if you purchase a return ticket online, you aren't paying that much more than for the walk-up Green Line price anyway). Swimming in Hilton!! Advantages: Near airport Disadvantages: "airport hotel" but 4 * hotel * HILTON * Hilton, well everyone knows the Hilton name some better because of Paris Hilton (best know in her TV-program The Simple Life, an heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune ), but if there is still some one who really don't know history behind this huge multi million hotel chain short info to all of you. Hilton brand is over 80 years old. It was founded in 1919 by Conrad Hilton (great-grandfather of Paris). And it offers for guests ... ...and even vacation ownerships. Hilton got nearly 3000 hotels in over 80 countries. One of best known Hilton hotels is Hilton hotel in Amsterdam and specially room 902 in there. In that room John Lennon and Yoko Ono held their first ever Bed-In For Peace in March 25 to March 31 1969. But I was in Standsted, UK. Birthday Treat For me today with a Marriott stay!! Advantages: Relaxed, Quiet, Clean. Disadvantages: Middle of nowhere ...year I stayed at a Marriott for my birthday in Central London but this year we thought we would go for a little drive out of London to Waltham Abbey. It just borders the Woodlands of Epping Forest, and is just off the M25, M11 and the M1. So it was only about an hour journey from south east London but it did feel like I was off to the country!! There is not much in the surrounding area. A 10 minute drive takes you into town but trust me there is ... ...you do stay at any Marriott hotel book via their website as they regularly have special offers. You have to book with a debit card or credit card to secure your stay and usually have to present this at checking in. This hotels check in time is 2pm. Not bad. When we arrived there was a large area of free parking which I agree there should be and the entrance is obvious. We were greeted warmly however the receptionist seemed robot-esque. Down but not out Advantages: Good restaurant, pleasant staff Disadvantages: Some uncomfortable beds, tired decor, no air conditioni Down Hall Country House Hotel is situated in Hatfield Heath in Hertfordshire. I have stayed here on three occasions, most recently last weekend to celebrate my wedding anniversary. The time before that was three years ago when I spent my final night in the UK here before moving to Bermuda for two years. Reservation and prices I did not see any discount rates available through the intermediaries I sometimes use, like laterooms.com, so I booked ... ...quick look round, I sat down on the bed and found it to be very soft and lumpy.
