Place to stay or visit if you travel to Norfolk
Advantages: Good Food, Good Reputation, Clean & Friendly Disadvantages: Can be expensive
An independant 3 star family business, the only in Great Yarmouth, even though I live in Great Yarmouth, and I have stayed here once, due to a night out. It was very comfort and the staff were very pleasant. To stay the night it cost me £74.00 including breakfast for me and my partner, and we had a lovely sea view room, and the room was very comfortable, it even had an ironing facilities in the room, the first I had even seen. tv, en-suite, tea & ... ...of cerals and fruits, with a full English breakfast, it even offers kippers and bloaters and kidneys the first menu I had seen with fish and kidneys offered, I didnt dare go for that, I stayed safe with the full english breakfast and it was cooked to perfection! The hotel has a bar on the ground floor, which over looks the wellesley football pitch and the bar can be quite at times.
Looked at the Restaurant menu, and its quite pricey, but I am sure ...

Good service but with language problems.
Advantages: Views Disadvantages: Polish workers
Me and my partner stayed here in April and found the room and the hotel to be very comfortable.
It is definitely a 3 star hotel, I wouldn't rate it any higher.
We found the reception service extremely fast and efficient, mainly due to us being the only one's checking in at the time.
The bar area was well staffed, albeit by Polish workers who mistook my request for 3 packets of salt and vinegar crisps as 3 sambucca shots.
The hotel was clean and ... ...Room service was slightly pricey but that is what we expected for out of hours service.
Car parking was an issue as it was used by non-guests and that made it hard to find a space.
We were forced to park a Mercedes on the far edge of the car park in the darkness which was slightly worrying.
It is a family friendly hotel, as we saw children being well looked after and entertained by staff. ...

Not As Expected
Advantages: Near to beach which was beautiful Disadvantages: Nowhere to park near by, little in the way of extras
...room for two chairs, and all that was supplied in the bathroom was handwash. There were no other complimentary products of any kind, not even a packet of biscuits to have with your tea.
Breakfast was strictly 7:30-8:30 (not what you'd want on your Honeymoon), and breakfast in bed was available only at extra cost. The cooked breakfast did not appear to be freshly cooked (rock hard egg), and the impression was given that they wanted you in and out ... ...only told us they needed our card number to confirm our booking, not that we would be paying for it there and then.
All in all a great disappointment, and certainly wouldnt recommend it for a Honeymooning couple especially for the money.
On a positive note, cannot fault the cleanliness. ...

The Hamilton Hotel
Advantages: Good location, nice, friendly, family run hotel Disadvantages: None to speak of
...from 19/10/07 - 21/10/07 at the Hamilton to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary and both enjoyed our stay finding the staff always to be friendly, helpful and most of all approachable. The hotel is going through a transitional change with the bar/relaxing and resteraunt areas already completed to a higher modern standard. I am sure when the rooms go through as the next stage they will be to the same standard, although in fairness we where more ...

Not accpetable!
Advantages: location Disadvantages: quality of accommodation
We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by a shirtless male who smelt of alcoholic drink. I noted the stong smell of cigarette smoke in the building even though there were signs asking for no smoking. We were given a key to room number 6. It had a "double" bed which was more like the little beds they use in BHS to display duvet covers. The matress was too soft and very uncomfortable. The room had wardrobes which you could barely get to because of ... ...shower and a sink near the window with no curtain for privacy. At £60 a night I'd expect at LEAST a screen! The room was more like a bathroom with a bed instead of a toilet. I could hear a man outsdide the window swearing down the phone to someone. I'm assuming he had been hired by the hotel to carry out some work - not the type of person I'd expect to have to listen to at a "family run" establishment. The male who had initially greeted us on arrival ...
