Holidaying in North Wales

Advantages: Beautiful location, fantastic cottages with all amenities
Disadvantages: Just that you need some form of transport

...- the location in question, Pen Cefn, boasts four properties for rent, each of differing proportions. This year, mum decided to treat me (because I reached the big 40) and my sister and her family to a week long holiday in one of the properties. Having had a superb time, I thought it was time to pass the news on to others. Address and location "Pen Cefn" Sarnau Bala Gwynedd LL23 7LG Tel: 01678 530481 or 530413 E-mail: bevianna@btinternet.com ...
...is on the A494 road. Pen Cefn, which is a smallhold, plus the cottages, is just above a small hamlet called Sarnau. Although easily accessible by car, it would be very difficult for anyone without some form of transport to reach it - although those keen on biking might enjoy the exercise! The cottages There are four of them, depending on the number of people: Y Llaethdy - sleeps 2/3 and is a single storey semi-detached cottage (it is attached ...

Maikle Barfil - Lovely place to relax

Advantages: Quiet and roomy
Disadvantages: Hard to find

...************************** = Meikle Barfil Farmhouse is located on the outskirts of Lochfoot, which is close to Dumfries in Scotland. The easiest way to get there is to use a satnav, as the cottage is difficult to find when you are just using directions from a route finder. The post code for the satnav is DG2 8RP. If like me you are unlucky enough not to have a satnav then you’ll find the area located between Dumfries and Castle Douglas, you need ...
...difficult, because the actual cottage is located about half a mile up an unmarked track. I say unmarked, there is a small sign for the cottage, but it’s extremely easy to miss as you’re driving along. Unless you are a great walker you’ll need a car because it’s a few miles to the nearest village. Price ***** Prices range from £299 for a week to £499 per week in the peak season. Prices include heating and electricity, bedding and towels and ...

Tarbet House - a cut above the rest!

Advantages: Stunning views, modern and spacious!
Disadvantages: Does not cater for children or pets

...the internet I came across Tarbet House. The house Tarbet House is set high above the village of Tarbet on 7 acreas of land. It has spectacular views of Loch Lomond on the southern side and Ben Lomond on the western side. The gardens are stunning and when the weather permits there is an area to sit out in the gardens looking towards the loch. Although the only wildlife we saw were birds and red squirels (which are a rare sight), we were told ...
...I honestly could not fault Tarbet House. It was spotless, modern and you were made welcome. One fault that some people may find is that children and pets aren't catered for but that wasn't a problem for me. Also, it is a bed and breakfast so dinner isn't availble but that didn't matter because it was nice to go out and try out different restuarants/foods. I most certaintly stay they again if I was in the area. The House if ver popular though so make ...

Christmas at Cranage

Advantages: Attractive hotel, good facilities, excellent party atmosphere
Disadvantages: Expensive bar prices, rude waiting staff

...with his work colleagues at Cranage Hall which is in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. As this was some distance from home, we treated ourselves to a night away in the hotel without the kids, making a good night even better! Cranage Hall is part of the Principal Hayley group of conference venues and hotels but for us it was the setting of our Christmas 'do' and a well-deserved night away. Christmas Deals Our party had taken advantage of one of the ...
...when we pulled up outside Cranage Hall. The exterior is very grand and imposing and it was much bigger than I expected. Our sat nav managed to direct us to the hotel without any problems as the hotel is just a couple of miles out of Holmes Chapel, in the village of Cranage. There was more than adequate car parking available, despite the hotel being packed with other Christmas revellers, although it did mean a short walk over to the main entrance ...

Review of Cranage Hall, Holmes Chapel

This place should be more than 3 stars!

Advantages: Beautiful location, friendly staff and clean, functional rooms
Disadvantages: Too far away from my house!

At the end of November - my Dad was married in Scotland. He booked the Tigh Na Mara hotel out for all the family, this included all the rooms they hotel has so I can helpfully rate the hotel as a whole. The hotel offers bed and breakfast accommodation. The hotel also has a bar/pub, and around the back is a restaurant. Both of these are open to the public. The picture which is displayed for the Tigh Na Mara isn't correct - I will attach the correct ...
...beach, which is unspoilt. Opposite The Tigh Na Mara hotel is a park, which consists of 2 adult swings, 2 baby swings, a slide and a see-saw. Also in the village is a Tea Room and a post office/mini-market. The rest is made up of quaint village houses, and the hotel, pub and restaurant of the Tigh Na Mara. Nearby Attractions Located nearby is the town of Stranraer, where ferries can be taken to Ireland. Port Patrick, The Mull of Galloway - which ...
