A good stay Advantages: Good location, clean, cosy Disadvantages: Have to drive to get there - bit out of the way, could do with updating I stayed here for a friends wedding last summer. The hotel is gennerally very nice and in a nice location with nicely kept grounds. It is at the top of a hill so the views are really good! We found that our room was adequate - not the best but not the worst, could do with a bit of updating but it was clean and cosy. The staff were friendly and generally helpful and the breakfast is good. Great welcome, great food and good value. Advantages: Relaxed, professional yet very welcoming and friendly Disadvantages: there should be more hotels like them! My review is for the Asperion and it's sister hotel, Asperion Hillside both in Guildford. These 2 gorgeous, and very personal hotels are located in the beautiful town of Guildford in Surrey. The Asperion is located closer to town, not too far for the train station, whilst the Hillside is on the outskirts of town, about 3 miles away. Well it is a travelodge.....don't expect The Ritz! Advantages: Clean and tidy good car parking Disadvantages: Price hike during events, very basic We stayed here in July for one night during the Guilfest festival. Well it's a travelodge- i think most of us have stayed in one at some point during our lives and they vary considerably across the country. The travelodge in Guildford is just outside the town centre, and has a few out of town style retail stores surrounding it. The hotel looks like a fairly new build and looks promising from the outside. We certainly had no problem finding it from ... ...park of a fairly decent size, paritally under cover which is useful during the wet weather. Up the stairs/lift to the first floor and reception. Again all very presentable, helpful check in staff, and room was ready early which is always a good sign. We stayed on the 2nd floor, and our room backed onto railway lines. Perhaps not the best place for light sleepers. Basic ok for overnight stop Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Basic ok for overnight and short stays. Stayed at this hotel on several occassions, usually booked in the Travelodge Sale, and always been satisfied. Rooms are basic and good value when booked at discount, but we feel the Premier nearby offers better value if paying the full rate. Rooms have basic tea making facilities, bathrooms with showers over and basic tv packages. Beds have always been comfortable and extra bedding provided on request. No on site food service other than the shrink ... ...value. Hotel is next to the main shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead where there are several cafes, all a bit pricey. Several other restaurants nearby. If opens are open at night, noise can be a problems as this is on the race route around the town centre. Car park is small for the number of rooms and finding a space if arriving late at night can be a problem. Car parks are available nearby at a cost. ...
