Friendly, helpful staff
Advantages: friendly, helpful staff Disadvantages: the shower which is difficult to control
...a 2 night stay in the Royal Lodge, I received a phone call telling me there had been an error and that there were no rooms available for the first night. Although unimpressed, we decided to keep the one night booking and go anyway. Upon arriving at the hotel, I found the room I had booked, was not the room I was given. I had booked a twin room with river views, but was given a family room with a view of the flat roof!!! Naturally, I complained to ... ...in fact, more expensive than the room I had booked. Whether or not he thought I would be impressed by this information, I don't know, but I was decidely unimpressed.
The manager told me the hotel was fully booked, and although apologised for the inconveniences I had experienced, he offered no compensation at all. I did ask him, what he was prepared to offer in view of the fact, our stay had been cut short, and the room we booked was not the one ...

Would I pay for it?
Advantages: beautiful old house, lots of facilities Disadvantages: mainly caters for the (much) older generation
...three-night half board break at Holme Lacy House near Hereford in a competition on the First Great Western website - yippee!
A few days later I received a Warner Leisure Hotels brochure and a voucher saying that I had been awarded a 3 Night Weekend break for two people to be taken by 1st May 2008 - how to book details (telephone) were on the voucher.
I didn't know much about Warner apart from the fact that it was adults only and my husband, who ... ...look at the brochure and Holme Lacy House looked beautiful although I was somewhat put-off by the fact that the brochure shows mainly older people enjoying pursuits such as bowls, which is not our thing at all! ~~Booking~~
Having forgotten about it for a few months, we were thinking about going away for a weekend for my birthday in February and remembered we had this break to use. Last minute as always, I called the booking number on the voucher ...

Basic ok for overnight stop
Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: Basic ok for overnight and short stays.
Stayed at this hotel on several occassions, usually booked in the Travelodge Sale, and always been satisfied. Rooms are basic and good value when booked at discount, but we feel the Premier nearby offers better value if paying the full rate.
Rooms have basic tea making facilities, bathrooms with showers over and basic tv packages. Beds have always been comfortable and extra bedding provided on request. No on site food service other than the shrink ... ...value. Hotel is next to the main shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead where there are several cafes, all a bit pricey. Several other restaurants nearby.
If opens are open at night, noise can be a problems as this is on the race route around the town centre. Car park is small for the number of rooms and finding a space if arriving late at night can be a problem. Car parks are available nearby at a cost. ...

Basic but a good overnight stop
Advantages: Good location, basic accomodation good value at discount rate Disadvantages: Basic, only ok for short stop over or base.
...are basic as with all travelodge Hotels and have either a bath or shower room. Each room has basic TV and tea making facilities. Beds have been comfortable on each visit and each bedding/pillows provided when requested. The hotel is just off the main A303 but we have never had any issues with noise but have not opened the windows either. The hotel is in a small service area next to a Little Chef where basic meals are available. We have not used this ...

Premier Inn Gatwick - Exceptional value for money, comfy & clean!
Advantages: Excellent value for money, very comfortable, clean and tasty food. Disadvantages: A bus ride away from the North terminal
I have flown from Gatwick airport early in the morning on several occasions and have always found it much easier to stay the night before and leisurely wander over to the North Terminal in the morning rather than try and make my way down in the car or on the train. I have stayed at both the Sofitel at Gatwick and the Premier Inn therefore, will review both however please be aware this is for the Premier Inn at Gatwick.
I have stayed at the Premier ... ...shower.
The Premier Inn Gatwick has a restaurant downstairs as well as a bar where you can order food from their bar menu. The restaurant menu is simple but the food is good, and includes dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognese and steak (as of September 2009). The bar menu is a little more basic with dishes such as pizza and burgers taking pride of place. The beauty of the bar menu however, is that you can order your food and then take it back to your ...
