Unbeatable value at "The Grand Hotel" Scarborough Advantages: Children stay free!! If you have a window then the views are fantastic. The rooms are excellent. Disadvantages: Limited parking and you have to pay. No room service or phone in your room. ...have had 4 breaks at The Grand, and will definately be going back, and have always booked premier rooms. We like the "Turet" rooms best, we booked it as a double for 2 of us but this room is so unusual, it contains 2 bedrooms both with it's own tv, and a lovely spa bathroom that has 2 doors for each bedroom. The unusual circular shaped rooms have smashing views of the town and beach, Perfect for 4 adults or a family booking. if any of your party ... ...3 hour free bar and the queues are ridiculas, best try and get 8pm-11pm and at least the last hour is much easier to get served. There is no queueing on premier dining,the food is more what you would call like "Home cooking" if you want something special the just book bed and breakfast as there is so many good resurants nearby. Where's The Wifi, Where's The playstation Advantages: Reasonably priced, centrally located accommodation Disadvantages: Not everything that was offered online was available ...for, part of the prestigious De Vere group the Royal Bath is situated on Bournemouth’s sea front, just a few yards from the beach, pier, park and Oceanarium. This grand looking hotel offers a fair bit of promise externally as it dominates a large portion of the sea front. Our arrival was different to say the least, as we stepped in the door we were greeted by a selection of guests who were incredibly overdressed leading me to believe initially I ... ...the room comes from the De Vere’s website which promised both Wifi access and an in room playstation. Unable to receive Internet access via my dongle (mobile broadband) I found myself without Internet access for my stay, there was not even a wired Internet option like a lot of hotels have. I could happily live without a playstation, but if I had company that had been expecting it like one of my kids, it could undoubtedly lead to disappointment. I'm not Burstin to return! Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Ran out of food Never judge a book by its cover and the same could be said about a hotel, don’t go by outside appearances! For our Ruby Wedding celebrations we had decided to go on a cruise from Dover to the North Cape of Norway and as we needed to be in Dover quite early we decided to find a hotel near by and travel down on the previous day. Finding a hotel with parking seemed difficult and then suddenly we found one nearby in Folkestone, great prices offer included ... ...rooms left. Can you hear all the pitfalls? The website made the hotel sound good, and so after guidance by our faithful TomTom we arrived about 4.00pm on a beautiful sunny Saturday in May. This hotel is on the front of Folkestone and was built to resemble a ship. What could be nicer? Parking! Where can I start? Do Enjoy Your Stay - We Did!!! Advantages: Location, Facilities, Service Disadvantages: Cost Well words cannot describe how excited I was to be going to the Marriott for a romantic night away! Upon arriving my Fiance and I cannot help but notice how spotless the area is - inside and out. So good start! IReception staff dealt with all customers quickly, no-one was kept waiting around for ages. We actually got our room number, key and had our credit card details taken (for room service etc) within a very short space of time indeed! I would ... ...were very helpful offering to make reservations in the bar and grill for an evening meal and offering to have a paper delivered next morning. We opted for a table at 7pm to have a meal as they had a special Valentine's menu on. By George, it's good! Advantages: Reasonably priced, good location, good range of facilities, friendly staff Disadvantages: Decor is tired and old; bathroom could have been cleaner I have just stayed here for one night, on business. LOCATION The hotel is very easy to find, being on the A61 through Harrogate (the Ripon Road). It is centrally located so you can walk into the touristy bits of Harrogate from here if you want. It is right next to the International Convention Centre, which is where I imagine it gets a lot of business - that's why I went there. Its central location is a good point. It is a beautiful Edwardian manor ... ...usual dining room, bar etc, and a leisure suite too. It has a quite a small swimming pool and a gym and weights room, plus a sauna. This is all useful stuff, if you were staying a bit longer than one night, but I didn't try and of it so sorry I can't comment. It did all look clean and there were obviously plenty of towels etc. The prices were reasonable - a one hour massage for £35, for example.
