Stay somewhere else if you have any sense
Advantages: There's an underground car park. Disadvantages: Stubborness and dishonesty of staff on the front desk - underwhelmed.
...booking in, we found that the bed was a standard sized double, when we had infact paid extra for a Queen size bed. And so we returned to reception. The receptionist informed us that "Queen size refers to the room, not the bed" - a first in my extensive experience with hotels. Perhaps the presidential suite contains a standard double too? I enquired. After being told that we could not be moved because the resort was "completely full", my partner refused ... ...and the car park was only half full - remember this hotel is in the middle of nowhere and needs a car to get to it easily). My partner therefore demanded to see the supervisor. Miraculously the supervisor checked the same booking computer the pompous receptionist was using and within seconds managed to conjure up not just one but a choice of three (Queen size) rooms we could stay in that did indeed also contain Queen sized beds, which we were then ...

Early Birds Need a Nest Before Flying
Advantages: A budget choice for an early start Disadvantages: Don't expect anything very special. This is functional rather than stylish
...the first day of my holiday if I was dead to the world. Possibly the only thing that stops the Estonian capital of Tallinn being totally over-run by British stag parties is that you can only get a budget flight there from Stansted.
I generally loathe airport hotels with the exception of the Radisson at Stansted but a night there would have made my cheap weekend not a cheap weekend at all. I hunted through the hotel booking sites and was uninspired ... ...loyalty scheme which covers Holiday Inn hotels) and booked a night at the Holiday Inn Express at Stansted after I learned that it was right next to the Mid-Stay car park. First of course, as you'd expect, I made sure I could get a good deal on the car parking too. To park at the HIE would have cost me £15 a night which was well over what I was prepared to pay. So I booked 3 nights at the Mid-Stay through www.holidayextras.co.uk for just £19.50. Result!

Nice small airport
Advantages: small Disadvantages: don't announce flights
East Midlands Airport is at Castle Donnington which is located on the M1 in the Nottingham area. When arriving by motorway (either way) there are sufficient signs which enable to the traveller not to get lost and also means that if you don't have a sat nav or are not good at reading maps (I'm rubbish) then you should get here fine and hopefully on time, allowing for traffic! It is important that sufficient time is given to arrive at the airport to ... ...horrendous roadworks at the moment and so this must be taken into consideration when working out travel time to the airport. Once entering the airport area there are signs which detail the various types of car parking or where the drop off areas are allowing the traveller to find the zone they require easily. I would recommend if travelling from this airport to pre book car parking if needed as it is cheaper to pre book then just turn up. The airport ...

Unbeatable value at "The Grand Hotel" Scarborough
Advantages: Children stay free!! If you have a window then the views are fantastic. The rooms are excellent. Disadvantages: Limited parking and you have to pay. No room service or phone in your room.
...have had 4 breaks at The Grand, and will definately be going back, and have always booked premier rooms. We like the "Turet" rooms best, we booked it as a double for 2 of us but this room is so unusual, it contains 2 bedrooms both with it's own tv, and a lovely spa bathroom that has 2 doors for each bedroom. The unusual circular shaped rooms have smashing views of the town and beach, Perfect for 4 adults or a family booking. if any of your party ... ...3 hour free bar and the queues are ridiculas, best try and get 8pm-11pm and at least the last hour is much easier to get served. There is no queueing on premier dining, the food is more what you would call like "Home cooking" if you want something special the just book bed and breakfast as there is so many good resurants nearby. We stayed as a family booking of 10, the hotel was full but we had no trouble finding seating in the public area on the ...

Bay Tree Hotel is a beautiful hotel in Burford
Advantages: Location, log fire, comfort, great food Disadvantages: Costly
In my view, this is a great hotel that offers a comfortable place to explore Oxford and the Cotswolds. The hotel is made up of a number of individual rooms, each with their own unique style. Molton Brown products are in the bathroom to help keep you refreshed and the bed is one of the most comfortable I have stayed in. The log fire in the bar is a real attraction on a cold winter's day, and the breakfast is great. Staff are very friendly and remembered ...
