Splendid but shabby
Advantages: Plentiful and reasonably priced food Disadvantages: In need of updating, shabby in places.
...hotel has panoramic views over the seafront and an old world charm.
I stayed here as a child on a family holiday and remember running up and down the corridors while my sister who I was sharing a room with phoned down to the dining room to complain of my behaviour!|
However, at The Grand time has in some ways stood still. Catering for week-end 'Butlin's - style' themed house parties the hotel is a little shabby and could do with a large cash injection ... ...and waiting staff are helpful and well organised. On the plus side, you can get a very reasonably priced lunch deal in the restaurant with fish and chips, peas, bread and butter and a pot of tea or coffee for about £4.00. Breakfast is also plentiful and leisurely. ...

Save yourself!
Advantages: Has a shuttle to airport Disadvantages: Everything apart from shuttle!
Awful. Never again!
Rooms: Tatty, dated, dark, dingy, stuffy. Mattresses lumpy and bedding worn and smelt damp. Furniture in the room was worn and grubby. Not as they state "They are also very comfortable and tastefully decorated". Windows filthy, mouldy and flimsy. I would not have felt safe on the ground floor. Hairdryer nailed to draw but unable to reach plug socket! Very little tea and coffee in the room and the milk was off! Noisy main road, ... ...4am for a flight. No toiletries i.e. soap. TV remote had batteries missing. Then when I took it down for some, the remote did not work the TV anyway! TV buttons were broken. Poor quality picture. Not many channel choices. Web sites say they have a trouser press in the rooms; there was not one in either of our rooms. Breakfast only served after 5am. Odd when people are checking in and out all night and the desk is 24 hours. We paid for breakfast but ...

Do Enjoy Your Stay - We Did!!!
Advantages: Location, Facilities, Service Disadvantages: Cost
Well words cannot describe how excited I was to be going to the Marriott for a romantic night away!
Upon arriving my Fiance and I cannot help but notice how spotless the area is - inside and out. So good start!
IReception staff dealt with all customers quickly, no-one was kept waiting around for ages.
We actually got our room number, key and had our credit card details taken (for room service etc) within a very short space of time indeed! I would ... ...were very helpful offering to make reservations in the bar and grill for an evening meal and offering to have a paper delivered next morning.
We opted for a table at 7pm to have a meal as they had a special Valentine's menu on.
We had checked in just after 3pm so that gave us just under 4 hours of erm fun and frolicks shall we say? :)
All lifts were working so there were no delays waiting around - saying that we were only on the second floor so ...

By George, it's good!
Advantages: Reasonably priced, good location, good range of facilities, friendly staff Disadvantages: Decor is tired and old; bathroom could have been cleaner
I have just stayed here for one night, on business.
LOCATION
The hotel is very easy to find, being on the A61 through Harrogate (the Ripon Road). It is centrally located so you can walk into the touristy bits of Harrogate from here if you want. It is right next to the International Convention Centre, which is where I imagine it gets a lot of business - that's why I went there. Its central location is a good point.
It is a beautiful Edwardian manor ... ...usual dining room, bar etc, and a leisure suite too. It has a quite a small swimming pool and a gym and weights room, plus a sauna. This is all useful stuff, if you were staying a bit longer than one night, but I didn't try and of it so sorry I can't comment. It did all look clean and there were obviously plenty of towels etc. The prices were reasonable - a one hour massage for £35, for example. One downside of the hotel's facilities is the car park ...

Holiday Inn, Gatwick
Advantages: Very near the airport. Disadvantages: none
I stayed at the holiday Inn Gatwick with my family before and after flying out to the caribbean. It was clean and friendly and even the kids enjoyed it. The rooms were quite spacious with tea and coffe facilities. I even called reception as there was only one hot chocolate between the 2 children, and they were at our room within minutes with more sachets and packets of biscuits. We ate an evening meal there too and it wasn't too badly priced! We ...
