5 star Holiday Inn Express - Gloucester south
Advantages: Standards Service Value for Money Disadvantages: None in my experience
...opinion the product offered by Holiday Inn Express is 1st class in terms of standards, service and value for money.
The Holiday Inn Express can be best described as an upmarket Travelodge. Ideal for business and leaisure use. I recently stayed at the company's Gloucester South hotel and found the accommodation, service, location and facilities to be beyond criticism. I booked my stay after viewing the company's site on teletext (page 262) and secured ... ...(not per person)per night bought me a 3 bedded room with en-suite facilities and all the trimmings. Amazingly a hefty buffet breakfast was also included and check in/check out times were generous.
Other brands such as Ibis are trying to compete in this market, but in my opinion are coming nowhere near to the HI Express standard as yet. ...

The Royal Exeter Hotel in Bornemouth
Advantages: On seafront, by shops,by theatres and cinemas, and clubs Disadvantages: expensive for what it was.
My wife and I recently stayed at The Royal Exeter Hotel in Bournemouth. This hotel is situated close to the town centre shops, two minutes from the pier, being virtually opposite the Bournemouth International Centre. The rooms were spacious and clean, but the rest of the hotel was not so. The security was very poor, and regularly, non-existent. The food served was reasonable but nothing special, the service was awfully slow. The breakfasts were not ...

Sorry. WORST. HOTEL. EVER.
Advantages: Great value for money! Disadvantages: EVERYTHING
Hmm... now, where can I start? In 2004 I went to stay to this very hotel. It was VERY cheap. Just £8 for three of us! But that was the only good this about it. First of all, when I went to stay in my room there was a single bed and a bunk-bed. The room stank of cigarettes, I got used to it once I got in, though. All my clothes stunk. And, the room itself was very dirty. I don't think the staff do their job well. The beds were very lumpy, when I woke ... ...go to my doctor a few days later after staying. Then, now this is the worst part - the toilets. The toilets were like I never seen before - it was... well, moulded into the wall. The actual toilet and sink was very small. It was okay for a bloke to do a wee, but it was so small I don't think that you could sit on it. The lights in the toilet were automatic, when you shut the door the lights turned off. Well, again that was the problem. I shut myself ...

A Basic Stop Over
Advantages: Easy to find near M6 and good stopping off point Disadvantages: Not much in the way of facilities
...then I could not recommend Holly Bank. If however you want a site for a short stay either to visit a local attraction or as a stop-over between Scotland and South England then it would probably suffice. As it is only about 1 ½ miles from the M^ Junction 21 on the Irlam side it is very handy.
The site is reasonably cheap but there are few facilities on site. There are free showers which again are adequate by modern camp-site standards and all the ... ...available but there is no children’s playground or leisure facilities worth mentioning. The shop is very basic and if you want anything fresh you have to order it the day before.
On the whole the site is best described as adequate, generally clean and tidy with helpful owners. If you want on-site facilities though forget it. ...

Beauchief Hotel that isn't very 'beau'!!
Advantages: Quiet room Disadvantages: Distance from city centre
I stayed at the hotel last week and was not overly impressed at all.
We booked via the internet - www.laterooms.com and managed to get a double room for £50 instead of the hotels rack rate of £79.
It took a little finding as the travel instructions were not very clear but once we found Abbeydale Road South...it was a straight run to the hotel. The car parking entrance for hotel guests is not clearly marked and you need to turn into Abbey Lane to ... ...is available for patrons of the restaurant and pub.
To reach the reception area from this car park you have to walk along a glassed in corridor, which I imagine in the summer is quite warm, but on a cold evening was chilly.
The receptionist was very helpful and pleasant, even though she had just had a trying time with non-english speaking visitors who had misplaced their bags! Check in was very smooth, we were offered a newspaper in the morning ...
