Jackets under the Tower
Advantages: Excellent view of entrance to Portsmouth Harbour Disadvantages: Limited menu
...at the base of the Spinnaker Tower, and if you visit the tower you will come out into it following your descent in the lift. You can, however, enter the cafe-bar without visiting the tower itself. It is almost hexagonal in shape with floor-to-ceiling glass around the half that faces the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour. It is very close to the water's edge and the views are excellent, although the day of our visit the weather was unfortunately grey ... ...I would certainly recommend the Spinnaker Tower Cafe-Bar as a good choice for a light lunch or a snack. Part of its appeal does lie in the view it affords of the entrance to the harbour, which I appreciated even on a grey, wintery day. I would also think it is a healthier choice for families than a fast-food restaurant, while still offering reasonable prices. It is open every day except Christmas Day from 10am until 6pm. Also posted on other sites. ...

A cut above the rest
Advantages: Gunwharf Quays' best restaurant Disadvantages: Beef not as tender as expected
...to sample the delights of Brasserie Blanc in Gunwharf Quays one evening in October, but without a reservation we would have had to wait about an hour for a table. Late one Saturday afternoon in December, I rang to see if I could book a table for three for 3pm the following day, and luckily this was possible. As soon as we arrived on the Sunday, we were greeted by a receptionist who checked our reservation and led us past a beautiful Christmas tree ... ...to the standard of the Brasserie Blanc. The previous Sunday my son and I had waited half an hour at Rosie's just to place an order. The furnishings and décor at Brasserie Blanc are also superior to Rosie's. I should emphasise that the prices on the dinner menu are higher than those on the lunch menu at Brasserie Blanc. It is also worth mentioning, however, that some dishes are available in smaller portions and at lower prices for children. I visited ...

Chester's Chinese Culture
Advantages: great food, good service Disadvantages: pricey
...trip to Chester to experience the town properly. While there I did many things but one of my most memorable parts was the places I ate in. I fancied a Chinese one night and instead of having a takeaway I wanted to go to a restaurant to get the real experience. I had asked a few locals and the majority all pointed me in the direction of a restaurant called the Slow Boat. It was pouring rain and I didn't really know where I was going but after asking ... ...is sort of out of the way down a side street from the main town you come to a tall brick building with the letters Slow Boat glinting at you from the streetlight reflecting. I went in but realised they didn't actually open until 5.30pm I proceeded up the stairs as sometimes they might be open. I walked in just to get out of the rain and they were sat eating but they were lovely and let me sit in to dry off and asked if I wanted drinks twenty minutes ...

Advantages: Food, service, cleanliness all excellent Disadvantages: None apart from the dreaded calories!
...we boast an award winning fish and chip shop – in fact it came second in Great Britain in the National Fish and Chip Shop of the Year a couple of years ago. Incidentally on the way up to Edinburgh we tried the fish and chips at the winning shop in Biggar and they are nowhere near as good as ours!
The chip shop in question is called Fish Tram Chips which you may think is an odd name but it is directly opposite the terminal where you catch the tram ... ...The full address is:

Lovely pub, lovely location!
Advantages: Location, scenery, atmosphere and prices Disadvantages: Was a little cold when arrived. Steps.
What is it?
The Kilton Inn is a Chef and Brewer pub. It is a pub and restaurant which offers real ale, food, areas for functions and conferences and as a venue for entertainment. It has an adjoining Premier Inn for overnight guests. Children and dogs are also welcome.
Location
It is situated by the A50 main road from Knutsford to Warrington, only a 5 minute drive from the M6 Junction 19. In my opinion, it is very picturesque, set in ... ...Layout, facilities and access
The Kilton Inn has two large carparks which includes four disabled car parking spots near the entrance, and room for coaches. There are three entrances to the pub. Once inside the Kilton Inn has lots of nooks and crannies, in the main bar area there are tables to sit at which are all on one level. There are also rooms where you need to go up two or three stairs to access, but these are predominantly the function ...
