Advantages: Central location Disadvantages: the amount of hills!
I've just finish my honours BA in Marketing and Human Resource Management at StrathclydeUniversity. The reason I decided to go to that uni was because it was close to where I live and it had a good record of teaching for the Business School. I found that the teaching at the uni was good although one drawback was that there was a real focus on teamwork and the majority of my assignments were in the form of group presentations and reports. I thought this was a negative because it meant that my marks were affected by the performance of my group members.
The Strathclyde campus is situated between High Street and Queen Street stations in Glasgow and there are various carparks such as the one next to High Street station meaning that its easy to access and there's good transport links especially since Buchanan Street bus station is only ...
Advantages: Great uni, very central in Glasgow, good range of subjects Disadvantages: A poor library selection
at the university has a very high reputation. In official teachery rating thingummies it rates all the Arts and Social Science departments in the top two bands of excellence. It is true. The worst lecturer I had was Italian and taught Sociology. He was probably a very good teacher if only his accent hadn’t been so thick. One of the Politics lecturers is often used on the Scottish news well an expert (or rather, THE expert) in all things political.
The library is very underfunded which means that they don't have all the books that you could possibly want. however, the building is huge and allows for a lot of space for people to study. It is possible to go to a number of other libraries in Glasgow if you can't find what you need at Strathclyde.
IT is fantastic, there is IT support services and every Arts and Social Science student has to take ...
Advantages: Great city, great people, great choice of courses, high quality teaching Disadvantages: moving around classes can be a trek depending on your course(s)
year level in your second year).
Third year and fourth year was where I only studied Geography and politics and third year is where the 3 subject system ends.
The University itself has a world-wide reputation as being a centre for excellence in terms of research, learning and teaching. I found all members of staff on my course to be welcoming, friendly and approachable and will often share a good laugh and a joke with the students (I've even been to a few lecturer's homes for a party lol!).
The University benefits from a great library with more than enough PCs and a HUUUUUGE collection of books and resources for every subject. Open til 2am and sometimes later, the library is the perfect place to study come exam time!
In Glasgow, there is generally a sense that Glasgow is the best of the 3 main unis (Glasgow, Strathclyde ...
