University?

Advantages: location
Disadvantages: quality of teaching, University ranking, staff, culture

I would not recommended this Uni, and would definitely think twice before spending or going into dept to get a degree from Westminster University. Getting the right degree from a good University these days is very important and Westminster University cannot provide it (again based on my experience). Below some general thoughts after attending business related degree from that University. I have graduated with business degree. Very low level of teaching. I have started similar degree outside the UK, where level of teaching in secondary school could be more intellectually challenging than attending majority of core modules throughout this degree. On top of that the attitude of tutors towards teaching, students is bad. Many of them (not all of them) are unenthusiastic, and with no experience (or qualities) of teaching in some ...

Westminster University

Advantages: Great location, impressive buildings.Lots of new investment
Disadvantages: Not all departments are as good as others, union is a bit pathetic

Westminster uni is in a really great position, being right in the centre of London (The Harrow campus is not so great, but makes up for it by being state of the art and having everything on campus. The department I am in, Geography, is fantastic. It is quite small, so it is easy to get to know everyone, and the lecturers really try to encourage you. It also has great Media, phsycology and language departments, however a lot of the courses at the Marylebone campus are not so good. A few friends of mine go there, and they say that the teaching is a bit half-hearted, and the atmosphere isn't that great either. However, Regent and Harrow campuses are friendly, and teachers there really care about what they are doing. The union isn't so great. Unfortunately, over the past few years the sabbaticals have been terrible, with lots of in ...

The Harrow Campus: Fashion, business and media

Advantages: Dynamic course with personal tutoring, top range industry contact
Disadvantages: Harrow is not so great, student union is rubbish

. THE CAMPUS FACILITIES & HALLS OF RESIDENCE The Harrow campus is modern and impressive with nice lenture theatres and a glass atrium. A lot of development work has been done on campus in recent years and there is a recently expanded Halls of Residence on sight. I stayed in Halls in my 1st year and loved the en-suite bathroom! The rooms are clean, modern and not at all pokey. THE LIBRARY The Harrow library is OK, not excellent but not too bad either. There are the usual student library must haves: quiet study rooms, presentation rooms, computers (not a vast quantity but enough) and core course material books. For scope and variety, the books are not great, BUT there is access to the other University of Westminster libraries on the other 3 campuses and books can even be delivered from those campuses to the Harrow campus. For my course, my ...
