Advantages: Excellent diving and cheap CDs Disadvantages: Eating out in restaurants is pretty expensive
...back with us.
Eating out tends to be expensive but we found a great little cafe that sold the most delicious falafel I'd ever tasted for about £2 and that included either a pint of beer or a glass of wine. The local pubs were good as well. We kept going back to the Underground Bar which is about 5 minutes walk from the town's main shopping mall. If you bought 3 pints of beer your 4th was free and the prices were very reasonable.
Drinking in the hotel was expensive, though, at approximately £4 per drink but there was always some kind of entertainment such as cabaret acts or quizzes. We thoroughly enjoyed Eilat and we are looking forward to going back at some stage. We only paid £199 for our holiday because we went at the end of January but it tends to be pretty expensive to go on a package otherwise. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend...

Advantages: An unusual place for winter sun, good water activities Disadvantages: Guns on display and getting home.
...to the Jordanian border. According to our rep Eilat has an average rainfall of 3mm a year, so true to form it rained that first night and it rained a lot.

Advantages: Hot weather, water sports, and great hotels. Disadvantages: All entertainment costs money!
...Eilat, is the glamourous holiday resort in Israel, situated next to the the desert, (similar to Las Vegas in that way)It is also next to the sea. Being Jewish, and with half my family living in Israel, I go to Jerusalem a lot, but i much prefer Eilat. Israel has a reputation, for having many orthodox jews and synagogues all over the place, but Eilat is quite the opposite. It attracts 90 thousand tourists a year, but not all are Jewish. This is for many reasons.
A key factor of Eilats popularity, is that even in winter, the temperature rarely drops below 25 degrees, and is almost always sunny. In the summer, the temp, rarely drops below 35 degrees! Secondly, there are many hotels, all incredibly fancy, reasuringly expensive, and luxurious, ranging from 3 to 5 stars. There has been a lot of competetion to make the best hotels in Eilat...
