Location: fairly good. It is within walking distance of the CBD (central business district), but there are more centrally located hostels in Melbourne
Staff: there was one staff member that served me that didn't seem so friendly, but the rest of them seemed to be ok
Rooms: fairly simplistic...white sheets, white walls etc. Felt a bit like a hospital ward at times, it was very spartan, but also very clean. All rooms have lockers for the same number of beds, and lockers have sockets inside them, which is very handy for leaving your phone/ ipod on charge if you need to leave the room, and are worried about 'tea leaves'.
Facilities: the toilets, like the rest of the hostel, are clean but very spartan. Free breakfast is provided, although this only consists of cereal and toast. Tour desk in the reception area, manned during the day.
Security: swipe card system for entering rooms, bathrooms and the main entrance after hours.
Value for money: this is one of the more expensive hostels in Melbourne, although it does make up for that with the free breakfast and high levels of cleanliness.
