...The City of West Hollywood is nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, centrally located to the west of Hollywood, and east of Beverly Hills. West Hollywood was founded as a city in 1985. It encompasses a total area of 3 miles. The city is known mostly for the land mark known as Sunset Strip. The city also is known for its' nightlife. The City of West Hollywood is the GAY city of the west, 1/2 of its population is gay americans, 1/4 is russian, slovic, german, irish, british, and several nationalities also (gay), and 1/4 are straight. The city council is made up of 11 council members all either gay, bisexual, or lesbian. The city of West Hollywood has 3 major holidays which the city celebrates, first is Gay Pride which happens in June or July, second is Holloween which is Oct. 31st, and the third is Marti Gras during the 3rd week... ...the beautiful people come out to play. Driving West along Sunset is the best route as it allows you to experience a little of the good, the bad and the ugly which all converge to make The City of Angels so alluring to me...a mad bad and dangerous to know place in line with how I see my persona. When most people think of L.A, they tend to hear "Hotel California" by The Eagles as the soundtrack in their head (well I do!) and that album has a photo of a Sunset Boulevard hotel on its cover. This is the Pink Palace itself - the Beverly Hills Hotel.
