The gym - which is free to guests is absolutely fantastic. If that place hasn't got the equipment that you need, then I don't know who has. The gym and golf courses are also a big draw in the local area. The downside of this is that these facilities are so popular that it sometimes means you have to park some way away from the hotel on it's extensive private car parks and walk down to reception.
Whilst on the setting and surroundings, it is in a beautiful location in the Welsh countryside that will take your breath away!
The hotel is also a favourite with the Welsh Rugby team. I have eaten breakfast with these huge guys on several occasions.
A quick run through - reception - large and open with double height front, attentive staff and an organised atmosphere.
Restaurants. There are two. Number one serves breakfast in the morning. An extensive self service choice of the finest quality. You will not be disappointed, whether it's a full cooked breakfast or not that you prefer. This restaurant also serves fabulous evening meals, although I must admit that I find the menu a little on the fussy side of pretentious and therefore prefer to eat in the second restaurant.
The second restaurant is a minutes walk away from the main building and serves an impressive yet simple menu from top steaks to great pizza's. For some reason the beer is cheaper here than in the bar in the main hotel as well. I have never understood that. The decor here is modern and well done with an open cooking area. Watching the chefs whilst waiting for your meal can prove entertaining.
I must say that the service throughout is spot on!
Bars - again there are two. The club house bar away from the hotel, which is obviously popular with the golfers and the main bar 'Hogans' in the actual hotel. As the name suggests this has a golf theme, but is informal relaxing and a good place to unwind. If any big sporting events are on they will put the big screen on.
The rooms are fabulous - large, airy and with the all the facilities you could think of - air con, ISDN, tea and coffee, ironing boards, hairdryers etc. I was very impressed on my last stay to notice that all the TV's in the rooms had been replaced with new Sony LCD versions. No expense is spared.
To sum it up, I would recommend this hotel to anybody - if you love golf all the better. It is great for business or pleasure. I keep meaning to treat the wife for a weekend but never seem to get around to it!
We have run a number of business events here so I'll be reviewing this with a view to the conference facilities as well.
Firstly the hotel side of things. The staff were fantastic from arrival to finish on each occasion, sorting out all sorts of requests at all hours of the day or night, there also never seemed o be a time where they were lacking in numbers, unlike for instance most hotels at night when one person seems to run the entire building.
... ...the bathroom facilities, I have never had a bad nights sleep here.
The sporting facilities are second to none. I don't golf but my colleague assure me that it is an excellant course and the gym in well stocked with nearly all types of equipment that anyone could want. The one downside is that you have to be sure to up early as the facilities attract many people who are not staying at the hotel as well.
The resteraunt is very good, breakfast is ...
