More to Valencia than oranges

Advantages: History, good food and attractions
Disadvantages: Maybe not geared up for tourism

...tidy and interesting approach to Valencia Airport and the start of a short break to Spain's third largest city, one steeped in history and nowadays mainly a commerce centre for a vast range of commercial and industrial enterprises as well as those working the La Huerta ( the green belt of most fertile land which sees up to four harvest in a year of a huge range of vegetables, fruit and of course oranges).

After such a pictorial airways ...
...was time to get into Valencia and explore its many historic and modern attractions.

I flew Ryannair which took around an hour and a half and then I took a taxi into the city but it is easy to take a train or bus and at a reasonable cost too. This was a budget holiday so I stayed in a hostel on the perimeter of the Old Centre and I am really pleased I did.

The brochures say you don't need to use the public transport as ... more

VALENCIA IN MARCH: A MUST SEEN! (FALLAS)

Advantages: The Festivity is amazing
Disadvantages: almost the whole city centre is closed to traffic, but we have feet to walk!

...Thank you. == VALENCIA AND "FALLAS" : MUST SEEN == I lived in Valencia (Spain) for about 5 years, and I have to say that being Spanish, but from the North, this region has nothing to do with my own region. There are people that think that Spain has almost the same culture everywhere, but this is not completely true, and some regions have a specific culture and events that you will not find anywhere else in Spain. This is the case of Valencia, especially ...
...most important _Fallas_ are in Valencia City, although there are other towns and cities in the region that also celebrate this festivity. You will not find the Fallas anywhere else in Spain. I am from the Northwest, and I knew just the basics of this festivity, but when I lived in Valencia and I saw all the work that is behind, I really understood what is so special about them. === FALLAS IN DETAIL: === Versions about the origin of the Fallas: ...

Captivating Catalonia!

Advantages: Nice beaches, great nightful, lots to see and do, easy to get to
Disadvantages: Can be expensive

...trip it was! Valencia is the third largest city in Spain, with a population of around 800,000 people and is the Capital of the region of Valencia. It is situated in the centre of the Spanish Mediterranean coastline, which overlooks the spacious Gulf of Valencia. Famous for being the home of Paella, the spectacular Fallas festival housing the largest Aquarium in Europe, and one of the largest fruit and vegetable markets it's not hard to see why Valencia ...
...get there *** Valencia is easily accessible from many cities in the UK by plane. We travelled with BA from Gatwick outwards to the Valencia international airport and Easyjet to Stanstead on the return leg. The airport is located roughly 8-10km from the city centre. Cabs are readily available at a cost of between 15-20 Euro. *** Weather *** Valencia enjoys a Mediterranean climate. We visited in March 2006 during the incredible Fallas festival. At ...

A long way to go to shop at C and A.

Advantages: Marvellous city, impressive buildings, good shopping and a C & A!
Disadvantages: Can get very hot. One day is NOT enough!

We travelled to Valencia on a day trip from Benidorm on the Costa Blanca in May 2002. Our trip was organised from the hotel and lasted for the whole day. As well as visiting the tourist sites in the city we also went to the shopping centre on the outskirts...where I spent a good couple of hours in C & A buying all the bargains. Valencia is the third biggest city in Spain and is the Capital of the region of Valencia. It has a population of around ...
...your way by bus from Valencia airport, you can get into the city centre for around a pound...taxis are available and our guide told us they would set you back about a tenner. It's a pretty busy city and I wouldn't advise trying to drive there unless you have no other choice! ~~THE CATHEDRAL. If you only see one thing in Valencia, make it the Cathedral! It is very impressive 13th Century building that claims to be the home of the Holy Grail. The Cathedral ...

Advantages: you can spend very nice hollidays
Disadvantages: if you can't come

...connecting with you from, so Valencia is a nice city located at the east of Spain. First I’ll start talking about all the community of Valencia, it is characterized by its diverse climate, as we can find the see at the most of the east, and some forests a little bit at the west. There are many fields of oranges, which smell so good when there are flowers yet on the trees. There are many old castles, from thousands of years ago, like the Castle of ...
...many centuries ago. So Valencia Community is very rich of interesting places and monuments to visit. Now I transfer you to Valencia city, the capital of the community, it’s known by its high (not very high) buildings, and it’s pretty tempters beaches, the most important of those beaches are these: Playa del Saler, Playa de Malvarosa, Playa Pinedo, Port Saplaya, Playa Corint, etc.. And around the community we can find those beaches: Playa de Vedat, ...

Family outing to Valencia

Advantages: Fantastic Bus and Tram System and Stunning Architecture
Disadvantages: Sometimes just a little to HOT

Travelling Valencia is in the south eastern region of Spain and only a 100km's or so from Alicante. It has so much to offer for a holiday but is better known as a business city and is relatively quiet in the summer months. Valencia is not your normal Spanish holiday by the sea, as we are not really beach people. We found a central city hotel, the Expo; this is a 3 star hotel close to the old town and shopping centre in the northern side of the ...
...around 20 minutes early at Valencia airport our bags were ready to collect as soon as we got through passport control, amazing! Then for the next task, transport to the hotel, not a problem, it was very organised with a queuing system and an airport representative controlling it all. The only small negative point was not being able to find a MPV for 5, so we had to take two cabs. The journey took around 25 minutes to the hotel costing £17 for each ...

There is an Ibiza for all tastes

Advantages: Ibiza town and the coves
Disadvantages: San Antonio and the macro clubs

I lived in Spain for nearly 18 years (in Valencia) and frequently visited Ibiza and feel in a priviledged position to share my views . There are many types of ibiza. There is the club crazy Ibiza for the young and flush. There is the unbearable San Antonio with its Fish and Chips, cheap drinks and the worst sort of tourist, there is the classy Ibiza town with its yachts in the port, its UNESCO protected old town with its restaurants and bars but always classy. There is the Ibiza of coves with wonderous little restaurants and bars on the beach and there is the inland hippy Ibiza with some truly outstanding little boutique hotels and where the likes of Roman Polanski have their holiday homes. Ibiza is expensive so prepare your purse , wallet or whatever it may be. If you get tired of the partying etc take a half-hour boat trip to ...

The White Coast

Advantages: nice coast with lovely countryside
Disadvantages: Urbanizaciones taking over, month of August to avoid

The Costa Blanca stretches from Valencia down Spain´s southeastern coast to Cartagena, offering different landscapes from flat marshes to rugged coastlines. There is only one larger city, Alicante, where charter flights from Britain, Scandinavia and Central Europe spill their mostly sun-seeking clientele. My wife has always been one of these constantly freezing snowbirds who fears the continental Austrian winters, she doesn´t indulge in winter sports at all and would love to spend her life in a zone where temperatures never fall below 22°C... This is just to explain why one freezing December morning she came up with a realty ad from our paper that offered an appartement near Torrevieja on the Playa Flamenca (which has nothing to do with the Spanish national dance, it refers to a bunch of Flamish Belgians who were the first to ...

Spain is one of the wonderful countries in the world. You can go to many places and can enjoy about the style of life that the Spanish people have. Spain has much to offer for everybody. In the south (for example) you can visit beautiful cities like Granada, Seville (there you can see a wonderful cathedral) or in the middle of the state Madrid or Valencia. In the capital of Spain you can visit historical things like ?la Plaza Mayor? or ?La Puerta del Sol?. You can also see many famous cafés where you can discover the Spanish ?ambience?. Another famous city is Barcelona where you can see the monument of Gaudi ?Sagrada Familia? or the beautiful street of artist and etc. ?Las Ramblas?.
